The Fairmont Santa Monica, the bungalows, accommodations, the pool side lounge & breakfast, and 'The Bungalow' evening patio bar are top shelf! Aside the beautiful beaches of Santa Monica, just down from Malibu, just off the shopping/entertainment strip puts you in the heart of Santa Monica, California's hot spot. We completely enjoyed the charming and unexpected, boho chic bungalows patio... More

First of all I wanted this stay to be top notch but unfortunately Fairmont failed. We where located in the old part of the hotel, Palisades Suite, and that part of the hotel expired 10 years ago but they stil charge you 1200 USD a night. Everything in the hotel room was old. We had problems with the AC and... More

Overall a very nice stay; great staff, very helpful. Room was a bit on the dated side; we stayed in a one bedroom suite which had not been updated. One negative was that the hotel did not provide any beach chairs, umbrellas, etc...they said they only offered this on weekends?

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in. We stayed in the older part of the hotel in a room overlooking the sea - spacious, attractive and super well set up with a large wardrobe for clearing things away and a great bathroom. The public areas are fabulous and there's a constant vibe here - lots... More

Awesome view and top-notch service. Check-in was super easy and had about 6 people greet me and help me. My room was beautiful and the turn down service was a really nice touch, especially offering bottled water.

The entire hotel is absolutely beautiful. We certainly enjoyed the atmosphere. However, the restaurant was less then good. Not to say the food is bad, I didn't have a chance to try it. I was sat by a hostess and a server never came to greet me. You would expect a little better service from an establishment such as this.... More

My boyfriend and I recently booked one of the newly renovated, top-floor rooms for a weekend at the Fairmont for a much needed staycation and had a great time. Service was top notch -- front desk, valet (never a wait), housekeeping (brought us toothbrushes, extra pillows, water quickly and with a smile). The fitness center and spa deserve a shoutout... Went for lunch with my family at Fig restaurant. Service was friendly and efficient. However, the quality of the food at the Fig restaurant was appalling. As I dissected my hamburger, I noticed the meat was dry, perhaps due to over freezing. The only redeeming feature of the restaurant is the good atmosphere. The food is just average.

A real nightmare....after staying at the Fairmont SF we thought Fairmont is quality. But not in Santa Monica. What a disgrace! Suite with a view at a wall, bad smelling room, trolley of our son was lost by your staff. Nobody gives service while my wife is struggling with a stroller because there is a wedding and she can't use... More

Lovely hotel, very comfortable, nice people who are very helpful all around and seem to stay for years. We stay here when visiting family in LA and it has a homey feeling, not stodgy or uptight. It's good for families and the front desk is very helpful and concerned. Pool is adequate, not huge but enough for us. Beyond Breakfast... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
