Great location but noise is awful! I swear the garbage is picked up every morning at 7am! The owners need to invest in the place and replace the 1950's windows. Ear plugs are seriously necessary. Linens a little funky too. Pool is nice and rooms are big. I've stayed a couple times but will try another place on my next... More

Best deal around if you want to be near the water or near the Promenade in Santa Monica. I truly appreciate the fact that the owners have kept the Mid-Century classic motel character of this property down to the original pastel tile in the bath. My room was huge! And, the kitchenette coupled with the fact that the property is... More

This was so upsetting I wouldn't want anyone else's holiday to be rocked by this sort of experience. I booked online. While we were initially comfortable with the venue, it wasn't until night fell and we went to bed, only to be woken by what I thought were rats. But rather, I looked outside and saw homeless people with cats,... More

So very clean but.not the most modern. This hotel has so much room and comfortable beds. It is located so well to everything in Santa Monica within walking distance and feels so safe. It is winter bi put on warmer weather this would be so cool!

Old, not luxurious - but the friendly and serving staff, cleanliness, very safe and convenient location makes it a great choice. The staff went the extra mile without being asked - obviously nongreedy people, and family friendly. All that and the great price for the area makes it easy to recommend.

The hotel has a good location and is not too far from the Santa Monica Pier and the 3rd street Promenade. It can get a bit noisy at night but the apartment is very nice in general. The staff were very helpful. But the wifi is too bad!

The hotel is old fashioned but it is a very cool place where to stay. The apartment was big enough and very well located. The pool is heated which a relaxing asset in the evening. The service is excellent and people working there are lovely.

Loved our 5 nights staying at the Cal Mar suites! The staff are all very helpful and friendly, they helped us out booking trips, getting taxis to and from the bus terminals and just generally making conversation which is really nice. Our suite was really nice, a big open plan living space, good tv lots of channels, well equipped kitchen... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
