Yes the rooms are a little noisy and you might have to block your ears at times; but we loved the location, friendly staff and the mini kitchen dining room off the bedroom- well worth the extra upgrade for that. The bikes are a bit old but perfect for the beach ride to Venice and back. A great breakfast place... More

My husband and I traveled to Santa Monica for a wedding we were invited to. Bride reserved blocks of room at 3 hotels. Bayside was the most reasonable, being half the price of the others. We stayed for 4 nights and it was a positive experience. We had a room on the second floor facing the ocean. Room was neat... More

Nothing about this hotel bares any resemblance to its attractive web profile. In Australia this would not be classified as a hotel, but as a motel, the type of highway motel that you stayed at for one night in the 1960s on a family motoring trip around the country. It is basic in the extreme. I had organised to meet... More

My husband and I just returned from our LA trip during the 4th of July hols and we had very good experience at the Bayside Hotel. When we were looking for a beachside hotel in Santa Monica, everything seemed very expensive. This hotel is reasonably priced and right by the beach. Since we are vegetarians, we also have some difficulty... More

We stayed only one night but would return again. It was in a great location and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The receptionists were extremely helpful and due to one of our bags going missing at the airport they ensured they would wait for it to be delivered and have it put in our room. Which they did.

My overall experience here was very poor. I was in the Los Angeles Area for business, but wanted to be near the beach. Unfortunately, the prices for beach properties is very expensive, so I took a chance and stayed at this property based upon the reviews. Big mistake for me. The main issue was the noise. The way that the... More

Great small hotel with perfect location near by the beach and local attractions. Hotel has own parking area which is small and please book it advance. If you get room from downstairs be ready that you will hear all footsteps from upstairs. Rooms are clean and different sizes but we really liked the hotel. Staff is really nice and helpful.... More

The location of the Bayside Hotel was perfect (muscle beach, shutters on the beach, venice beach etc). We rented bikes at the reception ($20 per day). Basic but very nice rooms. No noisy neighbourhood. Parking cost around $ 25 per day. WiFi was ok.

Not pretentious, but also not as pricey as other accommodations on the beach. Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable. A functional kitchen was nice to have for breakfasts overlooking the surfers heading to the beach. If you think of a cottage atmosphere, you will be very happy staying here.

My husband and I enjoyed our one night stay traveling up the coast at this hotel very much. The room was a nice size with a nice bathroom. The kitchen (which we didn't need or use) could use upgrading...Less than a mile walk to Venice Beach and Santa Monica Pier the other way was a short walk. The only balconies... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
