LOVE this place! The exterior is basic but the rooms are precious, very clean, and a refreshing change from the usual red and yellow mass produced hotel bedding and wall art found at every other hotel I've stayed in recently. I cannot get over the location and affordability! As a regular visitor of the Santa Monica area, I will never... More

We stayed at the Bayside Hotel for 6 nights during our stay in Santa Monica. Santa Monica was by far the best choice of places to stay in LA and the Bayside Hotel is about a 5-10 minute walk from everything including the Pier, great restaurants and pick up points for all major attractions. Our room itself was a little... More

My husband and I took a quick trip to Santa Monica for the weekend. We absolutely love that part of the city but the hotels are always so expensive. Since we live so close (Las Vegas) we hate spending 1K + for a two day weekend stay. We have stayed in Marina Del Ray in the past but since we... More

The only good thing about this hotel is the location, other then that it is a waste of money. The room was relativity clean, however there were old beach towels, with mold on them hanging in the closet. The bathroom was nice, until you flushed the toilet. It sounded like a train was coming through the room (no joke) The... More

2 words - great hotel. Well worth the $ - especially considering the Santa Monica premium. We were greeted warmly and professionally by Jessica, who didn't hesitate to try and upgrade our room, and make our stay as comfortable as possible. Besides a need for a coat of paint on the walls, the room was beautiful and modern, clean, and... More

We arrived in Santa Monica after dark, after being stuck in horrendous traffic! We stumbled across the Bayside Hotel. Thank goodness, as it was very well positioned, enabling us to walk around the area and stretch our legs after a long day in the car. The young lady at reception was very helpful, giving us a map of the area,... More

We paid what we thought was top rate $385 for a small room with a double bed, shower room with sliding door, then had to pay $30 to park the car, not even sea view room, wouldn't stay again. Also could hear everything from upstairs and next door. they need much better sound proofing. It was clean but not worth... More

Fantastic laid back hotel, wonderful location just a few minutes from the beach. Perfect for Santa Monica Pier and Venice beach. Rooms are of a decent size, with huge comfortable beds. Check in was friendly and efficient.

Bottom line: I would recommend staying here if looking to stay in Santa Monica within a budget. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again, but expectations should be managed, as the facility is of a motel at a price of a 4-star hotel. Pros: 1. Amazing location - across from the beach, ~10-min walk to the pier and promenade,... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
