This hotel has some great personality. It's like stepping back in time to the 1920's! The room was on the smaller side- didn't matter. It was nicely decorated and had a very comfy bed and lots of little extras like a Keurig, fully stocked mini bar, local magazines and robes. We were quite comfortable. It's about a block from the... Love the Georgian! Well appointed rooms, fun lobby bar and breakfast veranda, incredible location, those retro elevators - wow! We loved it. Charming, vintage, free wifi. Our waiter at the Lobster said we picked the best Santa Monica hotel. Don't disagree. Don't expect it to look and feel like a 2015 hotel but that's part of the charm. Lovely colors... More

Business trip for two nights. Not a big room but very well appointed, clean. A wonderful little hotel with a great ambiance; interesting art deco styling, nice touches. Superb breakfast. Can't beat the location--right across the street from the ocean, two blocks from main Santa Monica shopping area. Would definitely return.

Stayed here for 1 night with my husband and puppy, and overall it was a great time. It is an old boutique hotel, and I appreciated the history of it. Will definitely stay again when in Santa Monica. Staff was very friendly, and accommodating.

First off. You are paying for the location and décor. Had no problems with the concierge and their great staff that I encountered. BUT... did run into a handful of problems. 1. We checked in at 3pm. Got to the only elevator that can hold luggage bags. When it arrive, there was a maid cleaning. She said she would be... More

Stayed her recently since it was in a good location and was reported as 'pet friendly' by the review sites. The hotel is just off the Santa Monica Pier and is in a great part of town. Sadly, that's where the good news stops. The hotel is old, unkempt, rooms were dirty (carpet, tub), elevators broke down on day of... More

I had high expectations for this place but was sorely disappointed. Aside from location and free Wi-Fi there are little pros I can think of. You can easily walk to Santa Monica beach/ pier and 3rd street promenade in 10 minutes, which was awesome. The entry way is not stroller/ wheelchair friendly. This was not a huge problem as the... The elevator was broken for a whole day! The bathroom way to small for even just my daughter and I. Pretty dingy dirty looking rooms. Needs updates terribly! Parking is $40, a little steep! Way way way over priced! I also thought this hotel was way closer to the beach, not at all! There's a huge hill with stairs to... More

An excellent location in Santa Monica where people watching is at it's best. Being on Ocean you are in the heart of the action with beautiful views. Rooms were a good size but remember "action" also brings some noise with it. Be sure to have drinks on the veranda.

Hotel is nice, roomy and retro as described. Location is SUPERB, short walk to pier and shops/restaurants. Free wifi is awesome!! Rooms are clean and beds are comfortable. The staff are helpful and always seem more than happy to help out with a request or need. The elevator is slow and the stair climb to our 7th floor room was... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
