As charming as a hotel is this could be, with a fantastic location for anything you might want to do in Santa Monica, and a lot of history, the room interiors could use a refurbishing. The king mattress was old and too soft for my comfort. The sofa in the living room of our suite, was so vintage I didn't... More

Lovely boutique hotel with an awesome view from the front patio. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly and accomodating. Watching the sun go down is a great way to spend an evening. I recommend the signature suite. Bathrooms are modern and roomy. Location is great for going to the Santa Monica pier or the Promenade. Lots... More

Gorgeous vintage hotel with very friendly attentive staff and large rooms. Unfortunately the elevators and bathrooms are also vintage and very small. Poor soundproofing. Breakfasts are poor value compared to other local offerings.

Whilst staying in Santa Monica with family we called into this hotel for dinner one evening. The view from the veranda (sitting under the heater) was fantastic. The food was tremendous and very filling. The barman/waiter we had was Charlie - what a splendid character he is. Full of wonderful information and he makes a superb Margarita!! Apart from the... The good- near the beach The bad- could hear everything going on in hallway and on street so sleep was interrupted; small room and bathroom; masking tape being used to keep door peep hole closed; frustratingly slow (and small) elevators; poor value. Cannot recommend for anyone.

My husband and I came planning to stay for 2 nights. We left after one. The rooms are extremely small and the bathroom minute and outdated. But the worst part was the noise. There is no soundproofing and we were woken up at least 5 times by numerous noises from the hall and street.

A gem of a hotel right on Santa Monica beach. The service is excellent and the rooms are extremely comfortable. This hotel takes the guest back to the time it was created and it retains all of the charm of the era. It offers valet parking at the entrance allowing guests to disembark and check with the minimum of fuss.... More

Stayed here on NYE. Was drawn to the hotel because i dug the Art Deco style and it overlooked the Pacific Ocean. Was kind of looking forward to waking up to some kind of an ocean or shoreline view. Love. If you appreciate architectural history, you will love this hotel. it has been redecorated, and they have made good effort... More

I almost hate to tell you because I want to be able to stay again when we return and not have it sold out. A beautiful vintage charm. Yes it's old and yes they take great care of it. The staff is excellent! Kind, respectful, helpful, the best! Value is outstanding. Restaurant is also of good quality. There were four... More

Have really enjoyed our 3 nights here. Staff friendly , rooms clean, Art Deco feeling is different, good location opposite the beach and very close to the pier. Shopping mall a couple of blocks behind, Have family in 2 other rooms with us and apart from some awful room service food, they have no complaints.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
