Perhaps everything in Santa Monica is a little expensive but I was expecting something nicer. It's clean, got all the extras like coffee machine, iron, fridge etc. Parking in their spaces is $22 per night. As long as you are planning on being busy, it's a reasonable place to sleep.

This is a motel that is expensive by most standards, but relative to other nearby places in Santa Monica, is vastly cheaper. We got a room facing the street, which was nice because it had a separate bedroom, but it was incredibly noisy (traffic) and bright (from the motel sign). They advertise coffee and tea anytime of day, but if... More

We stopped here for two nights in Dec 2015. It's cheaper than many places in Santa Monica, which is expensive but would hardly be rated as a bargain. As we only really needed a place to sleep it suited our needs as the location is great being just a three minute walk from the peer and therefore within easy walking... More

Nice hotel/motel on Ocean, just across the road from Santa Monica pier and the beach. Rooms clean and reasonably priced considering the location. Also, handily placed for restaurants and bars in the 3rd & 4th Street areas. Those on Main Street are a little further away but easily walkable.

Great little hotel in a suburb location, just a few minutes walk from Santa Monica Pier. Agree with previous reviewers comments, you will either love or hate this place. Rooms are a good size, we had 2 double beds, comfortable with good pillows. A nice big walk in wardrobe area with a huge mirror, bench and small fridge. Bathroom looks... More

Needed a last minute hotel for 3 nights and the staff at Ocean Lodge went out of there way for me. I have a problem knee and cannot climb stairs. There is no elevator at the lodge so I was apprehensive but the office staff went out of the way to get me a low floor and carry my suitcase... More

This is one of those hotels that you either love or hate. It is situated very close to everything in Santa Monica, so close it is untrue. It is however a throwback to the 1950's style motels, it could be a well preserved museum piece. It has withstood the pressures of modern developments and stands proud as a symbol of... More

This is a great motel, nice prices for Santa Monica. You have the beach a block away, a cool dive bar across the car park called Chez Jay. Downtown SM is close by too, about a 5 minute walk along Ocran Avenue. Shutters on the beach is not far away, the breakfast served there is great, a real treat when... More

This hotel has a very good location close to the Santa Monica Pier and beautiful Santa Monica beach. It takes only a few minutes to walk down to the Pier. The hotel is quite cheap, so it is a very good choice if you`re on a budget. The hotel rooms are very clean and tidy. There is a lot of... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
