After a nightmare journey through the LA traffic, the Embassy proved a great sanctuary. It’s a nice old building with Moorish architecture in a quiet residential area. As a bonus the hotel is only a couple of minutes walk from both the sea front and the third street promenade. The hotel reception isn’t staffed after 6pm but the late arrivals... More

We had a very pleasant 2 night stay in August. Our room was a standard. It was clean and situated in a quiet residential area yet minutes away from the bustle of 3rd Street Promenade. Parking was not a problem and was free. I was a little disappointed at the SM Pier area as it was quite dirty. Streets were... More

We stayed in the Hotel Apartments for 4 days and we really got a warm welcome. The location is great and the people are friendly and very helpful. However, they are there only certain hours of the day (9 am - 8 pm). The room was nice and was fairly spacious. The bathroom was very small and my girlfriend and... More

I was really looking forward to staying here and it was lovely place. The one thing that does strike you however is the price - it is very expensive for what it is. But I think you have to take into account everything is pricey in LA! We stayed here at the start of our travels ascross California and it... More

This was a lovely little building and our room was very clean and nice enough but because of the price it was I was a little dissapointed. The location was superb, 2 blocks from the beech and 2 blocks from the start of the main shops/bars, and there was nothing wrong with the hotel but the price took the enjoyment... More

We arrived late after a 500 mile drive from San Francisco. Our keys were left for us and we had no trouble getting in or finding our room. However, I have to say that the place smelt awful! It was like musty old lillies and combined with the old look and feel of the place, it just reminded me of... More

We stayed for 7 nights occuping a 2 floor appartment and had a great stay in Santa Monica. Staff were more than helpful and the location is ideal for walking into Santa Monica in the evening. (Takes about 5 to 10 min to reach either the sea front or Third street parade. I know the parking has been mentioned and... More

Visited embassy when travelling from San Diego to san fransisco we stayed at the hotel for just one night after booking 2 nights at a neighbouring hotel which had no vacancies for a further night. What a surprise ,after a rather medioca hotel in Santa Monica, we booked the hotel on the telephone, so we diden't know what to expect... More

We loved the Embassy Apartments. The building and grounds are beautiful and full of character. The staff were at all times extremely friendly and helpful. We stayed in a very spacious apartment with a kitchen, which was perfect as we were travelling with a 3 year old and a baby. We were close enough to walk to the beach, the... More

My friend and I stayed for an entire week at the Embassy Hotel Apartments while we took a one week cutting course at the Vidal Sassoon Academy. I wasn't sure what to expect since the reviews were very mixed. Thankfully we had a great time! It's amazingly unique architecture and layout make you feel like you are living in Santa... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
