The hotel was wonderful. it was clean and comfortable. The staff was enjoyable and helpful. The car service is a nigh tough. Close to everything I needed. I would highly recommend this hotel. One down side - Room service was slow and food wasn't great. However, there are a ton of great restaurants in the area.

I frequent LA for business and, as a California native, I enjoy the rooms, light breakfast, clean and light in-house gym, beach cruisers, and the proximity to the center of shopping and the ocean. I usually request a room with hardwood floors as all as a room with an operable window to a balcony. The staff are super helpful.

Stayed at The Ambrose for two nights recently. Hotel staff was very helpful and friendly. Rooms, hotel and grounds were all nicely appointed with a nice upscale vibe. Continental breakfast in the morning was a nice selection of rolls, scones and other pastries. Coffee was a fine quality. Room was spacious and very clean. Was on second floor and room... More

From a positive perspective, the Hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room was great. It was spacious, clean and comfortable. From a constructive perspective, I thought the parking onsite was expensive ($25) per day and it was a far walk to the beach (about 45 minutes).

While a lovely hotel asthetically, it is quite expensive for the location. The hotel staff was helpful when needed but things like one bath towel for two people doesn't make a four star experience. I did not think it was worth the cost.

Bedroom was stylish and the bed itself was very comfortable. The bathroom was well remodeled, very stylish, tidy, and clean. The room was nicely decorated with fresh new furniture. The downside is definitely the poor sound insulation. We were on the 2nd floor and in the morning (Wednesday morning), the garbage truck came twice. It was so loud, it sounded... More

The Ambrose is a great place to stay! The staff will do almost anything for you. There is a driver for local excursions. This is my third time at the hotel and I will definite come back again! Especially since my family is nearby!

Because it was a Monday breakfast cut off at 9:30 even though it was the week between Christmas and the New Year and the hotel appeared full. They ran out of food @ 9:20 out of coffee cups and coffee. Very disappointed in the hotels attitude regarding this.

a quiet boutique hotel in Santa Monica. Not a three star, but it will meet most of your needs. Continental breakfast is adequate. Parking in garage is $22 a night--a little pricey. Very near by local stores.

This is an excellent hotel. A bit expensive but lives up to it's excellent reputation in all areas. When visiting Santa Monica we seldom ever even consider another hotel. If the cost does not matter you will not be disappointed.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
