The Ambrose is about 20 blocks from the beach and Santa Monica Pier, but it's a nice walk down there. The immediate neighborhood is quiet & residential, with grocery stores and small shops. The breakfast is good, no hot dishes but great pastries, yoghurt, ect. We only stayed one night, but wish we'd have more time! More

The Ambrose is a user-friendly hotel, with easy parking, attractive Craftsman decor, and an included breakfast which is better than what most hotels serve. It is not near the beach, but is very convenient to mid-town Santa Monica restaurants, Montana Avenue, and Bergamot Station. They were extremely rude unwelcoming messed up the reservation after we had called and confirmed yet when we arrived the next day apparently it was unconfirmed. We checked out after only one night. Don't even think about staying there. More

We just spent a wonderful weekend at the Ambrose with our little dog Sadie. The hotel is wonderful. The staff are perfect and the accommodations are comfortable. The organic breakfast and lovely outdoor seating area with a water feature was so soothing and peaceful. The beds were very comfortable and we had a wonderful time. More

The Ambrose is in an older building, but has been updated with careful design from the lobby to the rooms. My Mother, sister and I stayed at the Ambrose for 8 nights while celebrating Christmas with my nephew who lives one block from the hotel. Each of our 3 rooms was lovely.
