A comfortable Santa Monica hotel across from the Ocean felt like a true family home. The staff knew the guests who returned perennially and the breakfasts were predictably included. However, as all things change so has the Oceana. The rates have gone up, the staff has turned over and the service has become perfunctory. Ask for an ocean view, if... More

got charged a service fee but never used any amenities - that was a shocker - that should be adjusted in some way - needs some maintenance upkeep - loose faucets - low battery smoke detector - squeaky loose overhead fan in bedroom - restaurant wine list and menu felt a little limited for a higher end place

Dear Chad, Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel. We are so glad to hear you found Oceana nice and comfortable, however, I am concerned to hear your additional feedback as this is not the level of quality that the Oceana prides itself on. Please be assured we have staff on hand 24 hours a day to... More

It give it 5 stars. Some construction was being done in a back building but it wasn't noisy. It was very roomy inside and the restaurant had delicious food and the staff was friendly. Would stay there again.

Expensive, family friendly but don't accomodate in rooms for this, my children slept on a sofa bed in the lounge for 12 days. No local information in the rooms. Poor phone service/Internet. No fridge just a drink cooler

My wife and I were very impressed with The Oceana. They made sure we had everything we needed for our family and allowed us to check in early. The pool is great and the hotel was very private and quiet throughout our stay.

The Oceana is located on the bluff overlooking Santa Monica Beach. The units are apartments that were converted to a hotel, and they did a very nice job of making a 50's apartment into a nice hotel. The good news is that the room was large, and it came with a living room (suite... sweet). The king size bed was... More

Fantastic property. A jewel in the area. Look forward to returning. I would return without hesitation. Property, staff and restaurant were all excellent. Courtyard setting was private and peaceful. Gym as well had enough equipment to get a little workout in. Directly across street from great running paths and near the pier.

to really get away of everything and everybody, the Oceana Beach Club Hotel is the place to be. Although the beach looks close, you need the 169 steps to get down to get there. So not really suitable for old folks who want to make a nice walk on the beach every morning.

Having grown up in west LA I am very picky about where I stay when I visit. Recently I had reason to be in Santa Monica and investigated several options before settling on the Oceana--it was a great choice. A terrific location-- right on Ocean, near the beach, great for walking, close to Montana for eating and shopping. And a... More

We stayed here with our family, it was a very good experience! The room ( lania suite) was spacious and lovely decorated. A very intimate boutique hotel that stands out between all those huge big hotels in Santa Monica. Nice staff and good restaurant.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
