When you add up all the taxes and fees, valet parking, etc., you are paying $400+ per night just to be on Ocean Avenue. The question is whether it's worth it. No room has an unobstructed view of the ocean, there are trees in the way. Room service is punctual but they can't seem to get your order right (day... More

We spent 4 days at the OBCH. A very Melrose Place and Instagram photo opportunity property. You can walk to 3rd street promenade but it’s a little further than you would think. Decor was great but needs to be refreshed with parts of it worn out. The Great Bits: the vibe of the place, staff, valet. The Good Bits: restaurant/bar,... More

Came across this place somewhat by accident having to find somewhere all very last minute. Booked for one night, stayed five. Lovely sweet hotel with a very distinct boutique feel and a great restaurant. The staff and service throughout was fantastic and added to the calm escapist feel of the experience. Would definitely revisit when in town.

A very old, tired hotel where you can hear EVERYTHING happening in the room beside you, including brushing of teeth - the walls are that thin. Everything was dirty - and if you have ANY sensitivity to toxic scents, you will not be able to stay here. Our "suite" was dirty and dusty and included a un-kept kitchenette, with a... More

It's not a fancy place, or a super hip place, but somehow they have managed to create an atmosphere that was perfect for my family this visit. Stylish and lovely without being over the top. People who work there are very friendly and helpful. It's an awesome location, across from the beach and down the street from the Santa Monica... More

The Oceana is California past and present – a ‘60s apartment complex renovated into a boutique hotel, with a retro/hip feel. It continues to be our first choice in Santa Monica, even though it’s gotten quite pricey, because of the ambience, the location, and the roominess. Although a 60s building, it has good bones -- the apartments have converted nicely... More

You feel like you're in quintessential laid-back California. It is part swanky, part casual, part beachy, part foodie. The location is great, right across from the beach and near the pier. You won't be disappointed if you get a room with an ocean view room. The staff was friendly and helpful. It was just an overall great experience.

this is absolutely my new favorite hotel to stay at when at the beach, santa monica. First of all - thank you for the unexpected upgrade - with the Ocean View. stunning. The rooms are well appointed, comfortable. I love the decor, just perfect. My room was very quiet. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I can't wait to... More

Hotel is truly lovely, small boutique style, great attention to decor, rooms match the price, lively and spacious. Breakfast buffet is too expensive I would have preferred menu choices. we were in room 316 and next doors plumbing on bedroom side was very noisy, especially if you eere trying for a lay in. my wife still reckons it us the... Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
