This motel, right in the heart of Santa Monica's Main Street is a real jewel. It is amazing that the prices have stayed so reasonable, with costs in the neighborhood escalating like crazy. A friend told me $300 a night is typical in the area, and yet, because I reserved about 5 months ahead I got four nights for only... More

Hotel is 2 blocks from the beach and on main street less about 1 mile from Santa Monica pier and the Promenade. Free parking is a plus for this location. On bus routes if you want to leave your car at the hotel. For families not any grocery stores near by so pack in food, drinks or snacks to put... More

Our stay at Sea Shore Motel was very pleasant, and the service provided by the concierge was immaculate. Lots of good advice for trips were given to us. The room was excellent quality, with spacious beds and nice bathroom. Housekeeping did a good and tidy job. We can surely recommend anyone to have a stay at the Sea Shore Motel,... More

Loved this hotel, the view was spectacular and the hotel looked very old school, loved it! The shops around the hotel were all amazing and perfect for the beach side. My girlfriend loved it and we spent a romantic night together on the coast.

I have spent many hours researching Santa Monica lodging, so you don't have to. There's no perfect place. Well, there might be if you want to spend $300-something. This is a clean, quaint motel. The room isn't luxurious but it's pleasant and spacious. The only negative is you can't immediately book on their website and as far as I know... More

Motel is in the heart of main St, excellent location with loads of cafes / restaurants on your doorstep. Rooms are very basic but the staff will go out of their way to get you anything you need. On arrival I was slightly disappointed to find no microwave/ kettle but I had one within a minute when I requested. Bus... More

This is a good budget option. My wife and I stayed here 1 night whilst visiting LA for the second time. We wanted 3 things - cheap, free parking, close to the Santa Monica beach so we could ride bikes to Venice beach. This place worked out fine. The owner is a really friendly guy, he's very knowledgeable and likes... More

This was my third time staying at the Sea Shore and I love the place. In terms of nostalgia, this is the real deal -- no irony, no post-modernism, no quotes around it; it's a genuine 1960s-style motel that's clean, convenient and inexpensive. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the location is great: two blocks from the beach and... More

We needed an inexpensive place to stay near the beach in Santa Monica for a night, and this was perfect. Don't expect a lot of frills, but the room was clean and spacious. Free parking was a huge value, and we really appreciated the free beach chairs, towels, and boogie boards. It's an easy walk to the beach and there... More

We just came back from a family vacation in California. For our Santa Monica leg of the trip I chose the Sea Shore Motel. We booked the apartment in back for 5 days. I must say that I was a little reluctant about the apartment but they emailed me photos and It was a fabulous choice. You don't get maid... More

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
