I was told to visit by a local worker who sat next to me on my flight from Kauai. What a beautiful surprise! Right on the beach at Santa Monica, ten minutes walk from the pier. Very classy. Lovely. We stopped for a glass of Champagne on the outside, beach view lounge terrace. This was served with chips. Gorgeous. Would... More

My daughter and I stayed at shutters for 3 nights. After coming from a hotel in West Hollywood, it was a big change. First, we arrived two hours after check-in to find our room wasn't ready-We had to wait 3 hours! The hotel is in a beautiful location and the room is cozy with lots of finishing touches. The view... Wow. The bar scene is fast and fun. The roof deck is a fabulous place to watch the evening sunsets. The art work is terrific. The food is just ok. I would have drinks and then try another place for dinner.

My first time staying at Shutters. I paid for a deluxe ocean view room and had to take an elevator to the third floor and walk down two hallways to another set of elevators to get to the upper floors. Not a great set up - there should be transparency when you book an $850/night room that you will have... More

wide spread out beaches, lots of shopping and good eating. Ultimate in people watching. The sunset is like witnessing a miracle every single night. 2 miles south is Venice, 3 miles north Malibu 15 minuets inland is Beverly Hills. What more could a girl want.

Visited Shutters for the first time in April 2015 with my family. One of the best luxury Hotels I have ever visited, superb staff, facilities and of course the location to die for! Not cheap but absolute quality and value for money. Spoil yourself and give Shutters a try, go for Ocean View rooms and cherish those views!

We were really looking forward to to lunch at Shutter for the rave reviews but to be honest except for the inexpensive valet parking we were slightly underwhelmed. This was our top hotel choice for our stay but there was no availability. I was expecting the hotel to be a bit more chic and we had so many positive recommendations... More

The hotel did not meet our expectations. We were very disappointed. We did not get a good night sleep while staying here. The noise from the delivery trucks and works throughout the night were constantly waking us up. One of the noisiest hotels we have ever stayed in. It was very disappointing to have red algae around the tub in... More

We have just arrived back from a week in Shutters, and I have nothing but praise for the place. The hotel itself is beautiful, New England style, and it backs onto the beach (yes there is a path in between as some people have commented on, not sure how that can be perceived as a negative though...). We had a... More

Its seaview room will be quite nice, however its street facing rooms may not be worth the price. as this price level service is good and the room is well furnished. within walking distance there are other hotels with a much better pool area.

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
