We stayed in one of the deluxe cabins at the koa. It was clean and cute, perfect for us to go to a concert at the Pozo Saloon. I would definitely stay there again. Everyone was really nice.

We had a good time. Staff was super nice. When going on nature walks the abandoned old motorhomes around property are unsightly, even though campground is cute and unique. Pool was said to be open, but it wasn't. Cabins were really cute. lake was easy walking distance & lots of wild life deers, skunks, wild turkeys,so that was nice for kids. It... More

we recommend camping at the lake right next door for a better value. the bathroom is a hike, the ground is covered with a layer of fine dirt, and the pool is not worth swimming in. it was closed by the health department the second day of our stay. luckily pismo beach is very close or we would have cut... We have stayed at several KOA's and have always found them to to be clean and efficently operated. This stay in Santa Margarita was the exception. The site description sounded nice as it was close to the bathhouse and walking distance to the pool. The campground is terraced on a hill and is extremely dusty. The bathroom was accessed by... More

I am not a fan of KOA's, but this is not like any ordinary KOA. It is secluded, away from the highways and towns. The campground layout is great and there are many great spots. The scenery is a 10!!!!!!!!!! And, it is only a few minutes from Sta Margarita Lake. We saw deer, wild turkeys, skunk and other wildlife... More

This is a great camping spot in the middle of nowhere. It is a very large KOA and the property is quite hilly. It made us feel like we were really out camping vs. being in a campground. We stayed in one of the one room Kabins and were thankful for the heater as it was down around 40 F... More

Stayed at a KOA 8 miles outside of town. The KOA was poorly laid out with a hike and 2 staircases to each bath house. The town itself had one place to get groceries, and the closest 'big' town was another 12 miles. If you want remote peace and quiet, this is a good place for that, but if you... More

We were there at their off season, so things were very quiet. The campground is in a hilly area, which makes for some interesting sites. Most of the roads are unpaved, but well maintained. Up in the hills are many nice terraced tent camping sites, most of the up-hill sites accessible by car, but not RV's. The lower sites are... More

Not just another parking lot campground. Lots of trees with campsites set in the hills. Located next to a nice lake. Showers need to be updated though.

The campground is kind of in the middle of nowhere, not in a good way, and had more of a trailer park feel than a campground feel. There were many trailers that seemed to be parked for good, with a lot of junk laying around outside of them and pets running around. The staff was very nice and friendly but... More
