I did read the reviews on this place, but wanted to give it a chance. I just hate spending a ton of money on 1 night in a hotel room. I called them directly and saved money that way. It was a lot cheaper than any other hotels in the area. Unfortunately that area of town is just run down... more

This place is a slummy, smelly, dirty excuse for a motel. Being close to the beach, I don't expect too much, but this place takes the cake. Rooms are small and dinghy and noisy. We were there for one night, and the following morning, had a strange rash. Discovered the place is infested with bedbugs. BRING THE SPRAY. Moved out... more

After reading the reviews for this hotel, I was a little apprehensive as to the condition and overall attitude, but booked anyway. We could not have been more pleased. The hotel management was very efficient, friendly and funny. We arrived later in the evening and met with courtesy and friendliness. It is an older hotel, but the condition of the... more

My husband and I hardly slept a wink the night we stayed here. All the other hotels and motels in the area were either full or extortionate, one of the negatives of travelling without prebooking accomodation. Thankfully we only did that on 2 nights. It wasn't a reasonably priced motel. We arrived in Santa Cruz late and were given a... more

My jewellery was stolen from my hotel room while all of us were away from the hotel for the day. I made a police report, spent the entire day trying to contact their housekeeper (for whom they had no contact information) and ended up cutting my vacation short. The husband and wife management team were very helpful and very kind... more

I spent two nights at the Econo Lodge with my 2 teenage children during spring break (April 06) Pros Location - Very close to the beach, boardwalk, wharf, skatepark; Also, Pacific Ave which goes straight into Santa Cruz's very nice downtown, is right by Second St Price - we paid $99 per night for a double room (2 queen beds... more

The best thing I can say is that it was clean. I was going to say it was cheap, but I found out that a much better near-by hotel (the Ocean Pacific Lodge) was just as inexpensive. We're frequent Santa Cruz visitors and only went to this motel because our other favorites were booked up, but we won't ever stay... more

We stayed at the Econo Lodge during the off-season winter (Jan). Through one website, we were able to get a suite for $45 per night, mid-week. Well worth it. Since it was my husband, baby & I, the kitchen really came in handy. You do need a $20 deposit for pots, dishes & utensils. However, if you are wine drinkers... more

If you're comparing this place against Super 8 and Motel 6 - not say the Hilton or even Holiday Inn - then you should be fairly satisified. It's a clean, convenient and inexpensive place to crash after a day of exploring. We purchased a 2 queen bed room for $43.20 a night off the internet for a Sunday and Monday... more
