We stayed there with our two young sons this past week. In summary, I would characterize this hotel as an extremely expensive Comfort Inn with a great view of the beach. If you want to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean, and this is your primary criterion, you will find S&S a big win. Keep in mind, however,... More

Santa Cruz has been a family favorite for decades, but finding a good hotel isn't always easy. Sea and Sand is now at the top of our list. Well located, with stunning views. Easy parking. Great welcoming staff (impressed by how many staff members were present on site) BEAUTIFUL gardens and lots of outside seating. Our room was comfy, great... More

My mother visited Santa Cruz as a teen in the 1920's and I have fond memories of many treks here from the 50's to now. In some ways the town has changed but it still hangs onto the traditional beach culture. The Sea and Sand is one of the old time motels on a hill that has gone through extensive... More

I did teeter between a 3 and four star rating. This is a nice hotel with excellent front desk staff, awesome view, 5 minute walk to amusement park and wine/cheese bar in eve, but for the price could have tended more to guest needs. We were short on towels and pillows for our five guests in the cottage suite, dated... More

I stayed overnight with my best friend at this lovely little gem. The location couldn't be better. The price was almost half of the Dream, which is right next door. The view and deck space was beautiful. Falling asleep to the sound of the ocean is just so nice! You can walk to the boardwalk or the wharf. The staff... More

Stayed here for only one night and wished it had been longer. It is an excellent location, walking to downtown (great independent bookstore), to boardwalk (with rides, food), to beach and to cliff walk. All rooms have a view of the water, no a/c so we slept with the windows open (screened) and listed to the surf all night. We... More

Stayed here 3 nights and loved it! Stayed in 2nd floor room with private balcony..and it was worth every penny of upgrade price. Why? Because the view was so beautiful that we decided it was the best place for dinner, so we walked up to Trader Joe's on Front Street and bought inexpensive salads and wines. Saved ourselves $$$ on... my godson and his wife stayed here last year and highly recommended it, so when we were looking for a place to stay along the coast, i remembered sea and sand. we spent two nights and enjoyed it thoroughly. the sound of the waves coming through the open windows was divine. the high pitched screams echoing from the boardwalk wasn't... This was asset minute stop on highway 1 from LA to San Francisco. What a magical little find. Room was very comfortable and a great size. Best part was falling asleep listening to the waves. Location is perfect!!! Right in heart of beaches but quiet and relaxed. Would absolutely return. The wifi, breakfast, cheese and hour etc. all show this... More

With a daughter at UCSC we visit Santa Cruz often. I wish we found the Sea and Sand on day 1. This place is fantastic! Park the car and walk everywhere. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves, amazing home made scones hot out of the oven for breakfast, very friendly staff, easy parking/ access.

The ocean-front Sea & Sand Inn has always been popular with savvy out-of-towners, but a major renovation in 2009 has added a whole new “wow” factor. Three new luxury king spa rooms with ocean view balconies were added; two spacious family cottages with private hot tubs and three other spa rooms were also upgraded.
