We stayed here at the beginning of July. We just walked in and got a room. The person working the front desk was friendly. He gave us a discount on a room. The room was clean. It was similar to a studio apt. It had a refrigerator and microwave. There wasn't any house keeping or a pool. Also, the train... more

Stayed here while traveling for work, it was a last minute booking (early one morning) due to some travel snafu's so my choices were limited. Its a pretty basic extended stay hotel, I'd say one notch above your average Extended Stay America but below a Summerfield Suites. I wouldn't rush back there tomorrow but it was serviceable: - Room: Recent... more

Son goes to Santa Clara University right across the street. While Candlewood is way more costly than other local accomodation, I thought it'd be good since it is recently constructed - what a mistake! The aircon/heater was noisy and not functioning properly - it cycled every ten minutes and was noisy and would wake me. I was so tired that... more

Stayed there for 2 nights while traveling to San Jose area on business. Location is okay, about 5mins off major freeway. There is a Starbucks and a Quizno Subs located in the same plaza as the hotel, so it's easy to grab a bite/morning Java. Rooms are a little out-dated but honestly didn't expect it to be a fancy hotel... more

do you like hotel rooms that overlook train tracks? if you do, this is the place for you do you like hotels that have 1 staff member on duty at night? do you like hotels where you consistently find other peoples' clothing in your room? avoid this place. go stay at the best western airport plaza instead. more

First time I stayed at a Candlewood and I was not impressed, to say the least. The service is nominal, the rooms are tasteless, and the general feel is of your very basic motel or, worse, dorm room. My room was facing a railway and while the noise was not that bad, trains did run until very late. Obviously there... more

I'm staying at Candlewood Suites/Santa Clara for the 2nd time this year. I stayed there 2 weeks in July, and am now staying again for 2 months; both times in a studio suite. I'd say the place is quite decent in its category. The kitchen is well stocked for a long term stay, and Safeway is only about 1-2 miles... more

I've stayed at the Candlewood Suites in Santa Clara twice and will stay again next week. The location across the street from Santa Clara University is ideal for me. The studio suite is a large room with a reasonably stocked kitchenette (full-size fridge, coffee maker, etc.). It's not fancy (slim on the provided toiletries, for example), but is very practical... more
