My daughter and I stayed two nights at Villa Rosa earlier this month. We were in room 12, the only one at Villa Rosa with two queen beds. The exterior of the Inn is quite attractive and welcoming, and creates a good impression that extends at least as far as the front desk area and small breakfast room. But, as... more

We recently at this inn and the room smelled, there was no air conditioning, the room was dark... and our shower had a window that was directly next to the next door balcony (basically, our neighbor could have a really good show!). Like other reviewers, it would've been okay if the price was $50 but it was over $200! Not... more

If we ever find ourselves in Santa Barbara again, we will try to stay here. Very good value, nice room (bathroom was small, but fine). It is obvious that extra effort has been made well beyond the minimum to make the hotel welcoming. Lovely decor. Location: Very close to the beach. Medium to longish walk to downtown SM (easy car... more

This hotel reminded me of transient lodging. They bought the furniture in the 60s and never updated and it shows. I might have been happy if I had paid $50, but $279 was way out of line. I feel taken and obviously would never stay or recommend to even my worst enemy. To sum it up, this place is a... more

A Swiss couple that traveled with us said "this hotel could be a great place". The hotel could be much nicer. My complaints are, the shower never got hot, the pool was not heated and for the wine hour, they served cheap Australian wine instead of one of the many fine wines from the Santa Inez region! The location is... more

Do not believe nice things people say on this site unless you like to stay in gross, old motels!!! I love nice hotels and have stayed in some of the best in the world but settled on Villa Rosa for our 3 nights in SB due to its supposedly perfect location and charm. It was recommended by a friend for... more

Each room is very different. Ours had a great view of the street, nice bed. Bathroom was small but very clean. The common areas feel very cozy, almost B&B style. Great staff. more

Had three days at the Villa Rosa and really enjoyed it. Lovely room (altho bathroom/shower area a bit small), great breakfast, perfect position, lovely people to look after us and everything tastefully done. We had a room overlooking the road and surprisingly this was not a problem - all very quiet. Really enjoyed the evening wine tasting and nibbles -... more

We bought into their pitch and photos but when we arrived we realized that it isn't what it was supposed to be. The rooms are shabby and smell musty mixed with cleaner. The furniture is beaten up, the plllows are hard, the balcony with partial ocean view is actually a tiny step-out overlooking the back of the inn, along with... more

The hotel itself is very charming and I wish I could recommend it - but even the rooms on the pool are only worth maybe $150/night or less. At over twice the price, we were victims of the low supply/ high demand for rooms on the beach in Santa Barbara! First, the good: the pool is beautiful, you are 1... more
