Well I have to admit that I keep the star rating in mind when I review hotel properties. If it's a five star hotel my expectations are five star, two stars, I expect a two star experience and so on. I booked the Orange Tree Inn because it was the only hotel I could find in Santa Barbara that didn't... More

The rooms are so dated...they put in new carpet, cheap laminate headboards and furniture and a few lamps. The curtains have holes in them. The bathroom is from original construction, perhaps the 60's? No remodel in the bathroom. Louver windows that were not clean. Sliding door had a bullet mark in it, not sure if it was from a bb... I was in Santa Barbara for an outrigger canoe race and the town was sold out so I was thrilled to come across this inn with availability. The guy at reception was friendly and efficient with my check in. My room was newly remodeled with really nice decor. I was impressed with the free in room WiFi. All was good... More

Well, it's not the Ritz and it's not a resort. But for the price, it is hard to beat. Large, clean, well-maintained room. Not far from downtown; seems like college students think it's a good deal, too. But my room was quiet. My friends in Santa Barbara were a little overloaded so I chose this simply as a place to... Stayed here 14/04 - 16/04. This was a lovely motel with nice large rooms, although a little out of downtown, possibly need to drive when going out at night. Great coffee shop for breakfast just across the road. Nice pool, very quiet, we had it all to ourselves. Santa Barbara was lovely.

Frigid rooms, walls as thick as rice paper, a bathroom as spacious as a coffin, road noise that induces inner ear meltdown.... sound like a great place to stay so far??? I dont ask too much when I travel.... a somewhat comfortable bed, clean bathroom and a roof over my head. But I do ask for a certain value per... More

Its location allows you to roam around downtown Santa Barbara without needing a car. You can walk down to the shops n restaurants or catch the shuttle that runs on State street and its only a 7-10 minute walk form the Inn. Rooms were very big as shown in the pics online and the beds were decent. Bathroom while spacious... More

We arrived in Santa Barbara in the dark on a Friday night , it was getting late and we had travelled miles .Driving in the dark was scary as we were from Australia and driving on the opposite side of the road in the dark can be quite frightening .We arrived at the orange tree without a booking (Silly us... Positive: Big room with plenty of space. Balcony with nice view of the mountains. Free parking. Negative: Website promised a safe but this room didn't have one. Thin walls. You can hear everything going on in the room next to you. Flimsy door lock. Didn't feel very safe. Location is OK. 10-15 minutes walk to State Street shopping and restaurants.... More

You get a clean room, great location for about $100 a night. I couldn't find lower in Santa Barbara as it's an expensive town to stay in. But, it was clean, great location and has a pool. It does not have a continental breakfast in the morning though and that was a disappointment.
