Preface: I live close by and about once a year, head down to SB for shopping, dinners out and a weekend of relaxation. Usually stay downtown but since the weather was so warm decided to make the most of it and stay near the beach. There are two entrances to the hotel, both a bit daunting after dark. There is... more

Been here twice and I've enjoyed my stay both times. It is in a great location and the service is great. But, I've never paid to stay here so that makes a difference. I would not pay $400+ to stay here. Don't get me wrong it is a nice hotel but the rooms need to be updated at that price.... more

The hotel and facilities are great. Well maintained, clean and spacious. Good restaurant and snack bars. Beware however, "mountain view" rooms to rear do indeed hav great mountain view but also great parking lot and train track view. And there are regular Amtraks that hoot for nearby level crossings. Worth paying extra for a ocean side room. more

Stayed here for 2 nights for a conference. Nice grounds. I had a second floor room with a nice balcony. Very relaxing place to stay, I would like to come back with the family some time! more

Upon check-in, the room key did not work, dirty dishes sat outside the room and there was a very noisy child inside the room next door. We asked to be moved, and the request was granted. The room was nice, but musty-- perhaps the rug had been cleaned. They brought in one of those large de-humidifiers and it ran while... more

The Fess Parker is a fine resort, although not a high end one. The location is great, and the buildings and rooms are very attractive. We didn't try the restaurant options because there are so many good places to eat in town. My biggest issue is with the price for what we got. To be fair I had a hard... more

Stayed here for one night only but could have stayed a week. The hotel is magnificent, from the reception area, to the grounds and the individual rooms. We were upgraded to an ocean front room on the ground floor that allowed us to sit out on our own verranda to watch the sun setting over the Pacific. Only about twenty... more

With the recession, this place is like a ghost town. Facilities are kept up nice. Weird entry is behind the buildings and not from the sea side. Everything is big. Large lobby area. Extra wide hallways. Rooms are nice but may need updating in a few years. Staff is nice and provides good service. Closer to the beach than downtown... more

We stayed here with my 3 young kids. The pool was nice, but hard to find seating. Have to get down early. It is right across from the beach which was great. And a short distance to the restaurants. We were lucky and had a nice quiet room, but dogs are allowed at this site and we could hear dogs... more

The ocean view room was a winner. It was large and well appointed. I was a bit concerned when I noticed that there were multiple weddings during our stay, but this was not an issue AT ALL. We felt that we received specialized, personal service even though we weren't part of a big event. We enjoyed a wine tasting 1... more
