I had a night mare experience in this Hostel. The manager is a dirty snake. He is evil-meniacal not to mention a complete a-hole. He is verbally abusive towards woman. I would not stay at this hostel again. He treats the workers like slaves. He is a bully and a creepo. The rooms are small and very very cramped. Overall... more

So overall the big guy with curly hair is a brainless mop, avoid him and this hostel might treat you alright. more

I've travelled a lot all over the world: This is one of the bottom three hostel!!! Additionally to all bad reviews I have to comment: This manager is absolutely incapable. He simply refuses to talk to guest!!! After insisting I had im on the phone where he simply said "You don't have a point!" and hang up... more

We rented a private room over Labor day weekend. After travelling down on the Amtrak from San Francisco to Santa Barbara the hostel was really easy to find (right next to the station!) Only a block from the beach and pier and just off State Street (most restaurants and shops) The only downside is the trains sound their horns very... more

This has got to be the worst hostel I've stayed in (and I've been to plenty). The location is literally right next door to the Amtrak station, so be prepared for a 3am wakeup call when the trains go by. They put cheap kids metal bunkbeds in the dorms, which to my knowledge are NOT meant for adult weight capacity... more

Best thing about this hostel was the staff, *extremely* nice and helpful, especially the guy who checked me in. Nothing too much trouble. It's only a 5 minute walk down to the beach, and the railway station is right opposite. I stayed in a private room with an en-suite, pretty basic. Could have used a bit more furnishing, I know... more

This place is a nightmare! Dirty room, awful service and the most impolite staff I have ever experienced! We booked a room at the Haley Cottages and had to check in at this hostel. Although even having received an extra reservation confirmation they told us the cottages were not available anymore. They offered us a private room at the hostel... more

I was really shocked to read the reviews this hostel has. I have done an awful lot of travelling in the past few years and can honestly say that I totally fell in love with this hostel-it IS the best I've ever stayed in. The staff are hilarious, the atmosphere is very laid back and welcoming and all the guests... more

santa barbara was a lovely place and the hostel had a brilliant location - v close to the beach. our first problem was one very unhelpful staff member who when we tried to check in asked us to "come back later" as he had been working since 6 and was tired (it was lunchtime). we thought it was a bit... more

I made a reservation for my 10 year old son and myself on-line. After checking in early in the evening of the 23rd and spending an hour or so at the site I decided not to stay there and left despite the check-in person telling me that the manager was very unlikely to refund the approximately $120 dollar charge to... more
