Santa Barbara is a place of very few hotel chains, and big box hotels. Most are small, cozy and have a Mediterranean feel. This hotel is no exception. The complex itself is quite large, with multiple buildings, 2 pools, and lounge areas. The buildings are older, but well maintained. Our room was fairly large, with a great patio, with an... more

We stopped in during the 4th of July Weekend and was surprised by the beautiful grounds the Hotel Oceana has. There are all thes great seating areas, perfect for the fireworks show which was directly across the street from the hotel. When we checked in, there was a band playing and the GM was making snow cones for all the... more

We booked a room at the last minute for an impromptu visit in Santa Barbara for the 4th of July. Having been in the area before, I was familiar with the hotel and its great location (right across the street from the beach and easy access to State St.). The reception area is nice - beachy chic, and the staff... more

I was worried about this place ahead of our stay as we had seen the two types of review - awful and great. In our two-night stay we got to see exactly why this happens. When we checked in on the first day, we had great service. I asked for the main building, but was given the West building next... more

I booked the Hotel Oceana without doing any research and, honestly, was concerned when I later read some of the negative reviews. I arrived on a Friday afternoon at 1 pm with my wife and eight-year-old daughter and the front desk staff was pleasant and allowed us to check in early. We got an upstairs room in a separate building... more

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights in June - mom, grandma' and a 10 months old baby. Location could not be better, rooms (we had one in the back, upper floor) are quite big - we could set up our playpen without any space problems - and clean. Service is great, breakfast (included) is OK - there as... more

While this hotel's location is right across from the Ocean and within walking distance of Stern's Wharf and State Street shops and restaurants, the rooms leave a lot to be desired. They have been "updated" with flat screen TV's and a comfortable bed, but that does not make a great room. There was no full length mirror anywhere, no coffee... more

First, the complementary breakfast is so great! There were yummy muffins, bagels, scones, fruit, etc. Sounds so plain and simple, but they actually tasted good...other hotels we stayed at that had complementary breakfasts were disgusting. The staff was nice and friendly. The only problem we had was that we didn't realize there were multiple buildings and that each had its... more

nice gardens, cute decorated room and better than average breakfast-- that's where it ends.. 20.00 / day" usage fee" added for the pool, internet and ping pong table- even if you don't use them. 10.00/ day more for parking in their lot. Room was small , stuffy and hot with no air conditioning. I had to open the windows for... more

From the moment we arrived at this hotel the service was excellent. Myself and my husband had arrived from England following our wedding By the time we got to the hotel we were exhausted and the helpful friendly staff took care of us from handing us water to showing us around our fantastic suite. It was the best start to... more
