Barcara Resort does luxury very well. The minute you pull into the drive you are enveloped in a level of service that few hotels can match. From the bellman to the front desk to the room service waitstaff....it all works to make you feel very welcome. Rooms are beautfully organized to get the most out of the space. Balconies are... more

beautifully maintained grounds, luxurious accomodations, a staff that never says no, and terrific services and food. a little on the pricey side, but with some negotiations better rates are available. way above the ordinary, and worth a return trip. more

Located at Goleta a good 15 mins drive from Santa Barbara I was somewhat disappointed with Bacara. The room rates are expensive, the rooms nice but nothing special and everything else seems to be extra (parking, a sun lounger if you want a shade). This is a high density resort hotel, perhaps OK for families, but not a relaxing getaway... more

Lucky me, my husband surprised me with a trip to Bacara for our 20th anniversary. Bacara had been recommended to him by friends, but I had not heard of it, so had no preconceived ideas. Wow!!! Literally from beginning to end, everything was perfect - so much so, that we took time out at the end of our trip to... more

Just returned from a repeat trip for the wine dinner (EXCELLENT, great time), and went to the sand this time. The beach is not soft-sand and is shallow from the hotel access -- but there is wider sand a short walk away, a lot of kayakers out, and there is a snack bar with a picnic area. Ocean-front rooms are... more

This is a very nice hotel but for the price you can do better. We spent a long weekend at Bacara recently and did enjoy our stay but I'm not sure if we would return. We had nice room but the patio looked out onto a very busy walkway so we had no privacy. The property has a nice pool... more

My husband surprised me with a little getaway trip to Bacara for Valentines day 2009. The hotel overall is beautiful. It has its own private beach and hiking trails. I gave it a three stars for location only because the beach wasn't as nice as I thought it would be. There was hardly any sand to walk on, mostly rocks.... more

This is our second time staying at the Bacara. We loved everything about it!! The rooms are a little on the small side but they are decorated beautifully and are very clean. If you are traveling with a little one like we were I recommend upgrading to a junior suite. If it is too pricey I can tell you that... more

Even though there were many negative reviews on TripAdvisor, I figured I'd try it again. I arrived at the hotel and I sat 5-10 mins waiting for the bellboy to take us to our room. Finally, I picked up our key and took ourselves to our room. Then we decided to relax and have lunch at the pool. People all... more

Stayed here with my husband while on a business function being held at the hotel. The conference/meeting/ball rooms were nice and the audio/visual coordinators helpful. Although the property is nice, I would never spend my own money to stay here. The grounds are nicely maintained but I found them to be boring. They feature rolling grassy lawns and sidewalks/golf cart... more
