We travelled to the Hyatt in Santa Barbara from the Huntley hotel in Santa Monica which had been a luxurious place to stay. By comparison the Hyatt in Santa Barbara was fairly basic, particularly the standard of fittings and size of rooms. However the overall feel of the hotel and it's esteemed history were superb. We loved the laid back... More

Checking into the Hyatt, we were amazed that this hotel was allowed to use the Hyatt name.....it was more like a Motel 6! The room was very shabby with chunks out of the table veneers, a wall-unit A/C that was loud and continuously cycled on and off. Yes, it was clean, but the rooms (I was moved to another room,... Great Location with clean, comfortable rooms at a good value for the area. The layout is a bit quirky but overall we had a great stay! The pool, jacuzzi and pool bar was nice for some down-time. All the staff we encourntered were all very helpful. We used valet each night because the nearby streets were filled up, but it... More

Staff is friendly and helpful. Worked hard to get us a decent room when we were dissatisfied with our original rooms. Even with an upgrade, the rooms are small dingy and cell-like and the bathrooms are tiny. Very disappointed, this hotel needs a complete overhaul!

We chose this hotel because it required the fewest points of any hotel rewards club we belonged to and we needed a one night stay in Santa Barbara. I wasn't expecting much because the point requirement was soooo low. Wow. Location, location, location. You are across the street from the beach. You can walk to the weekend art fair. You... More

Good hotel overall despite my billing / upgrade gripe- seems like I was ripped off. Will not be back for sure. Requested an upgrade to ocean view, they charged me more at the hotel than on their own website of hyatt.com. Unreal scam artists. If you must stay here, do NOT do the upgrade

The location just across from the beach was nice, but we payed way too much for a room that didn't even face the ocean. We tried to change rooms on arrival, but were told no ocean view rooms were available. . . We stayed in the main building, which has interesting architecture, but underwhelming rooms. We found parking on the... More

Thank you for your time and feedback, I appreciate you being able to share your experience even though it isn't exactly what you had hoped it would be. I’m sorry that an ocean view was not available for you, many guests reserve these rooms in advance. I’m very happy that you found the nearby sites are within an easy walk,... More

A real disappointment given the promise of the brand and the prime beachfront location. This was just sloppy from the get go. Like a previous visitor the instant impression was about making money from the valet only parking at 26 dollars per day Whilst we knew that when we booked it was just the sense of having it rammed down... I find it really hard to believe all of the negative reviews when we had such an enjoyable stay here. Spent 2 nights here and it was just lovely. Room was nice and spacious. Internet was reasonable. This IS Santa Barbara after all, so we were expected high hotel rates and compared to the other options in this area we... More

Location:Awesome Rooms: Clean and Fantastic View of the ocean Staff: Indifferent and Cold Valet Parking People: Simply Bad, They kept telling us that we need to pay $26 for overnight parking, every time we came in and out of the hotel. They must have repeated that message at least 13 times and that is irritating, if you just paid $600... More

Hello, thank you very kindly for this feedback. It’s wonderful to hear that you enjoyed a fantastic ocean view and that you found the guestroom to be clean, and I agree, our location is awesome. I am troubled to learn that our valet team left this negative impression on you and I will be working directly with our valet manager... More
