The hotel manager as well as the receptionist were very friendly, polite and there to assist me with anything I needed. The manager even helped me with my baggage upon arrival and departing. Housekeepers are friendly and hard working. Lobby has a computer available for customer use. Excellent location close to Sterns warf (!/2 block) and State St were Paseo... more

I dont get whats goin on with this hotel. It seemed to me like it was a refuge for the homeless. They all gathered at the seating in the lobby. They hang around the front door also, very intimidating. Internet is only available in the lobby so you have to sit amongst these people and listen to the rubbish that... more

I have stayed in this hotel for many times since 1990, now older and with my boyfriend attending the wedding i checked the website for hotels and did not find anything. I remembered and told my boyfriend we are going to stay at this place but it's not a 5 star hotel. To make it short, it was great we... more

I would not recommend this place to anyone. They claim to have parking but its being used by the Subway sandwich shop next door. Lots of bugs and insects in the room. There is only 1 full restroom and bath and 1 toilet on each floor. For the 1st floor it is to be shared with 15 rooms, so theres... more

We stayed in this hotel for 1 night last summer . It is located just a short walk away from Santa Barbara Pier, and if you walk along State Street there are plenty of bars, restaurants and shops. It is also located right next to railway tracks, and the horns of the trains are loud, but I wasn't really disturbed... more

We got to SB late afternoon and we saw this hotel and asked about the rates. They gave us very nice rates (hotels in SB are supposed to be expensive) and we finally took a room with private WC but shared shower. The room was nice and clean. Same goes for the shared shower. Overall, the hotel looks OK and... more

Came to Santa Barbara on a weekend without reservation. Had some trouble to find a hotel downtown, but finally found the State Street Hotel (recommendation of Lonely Planet) for 100$ / Night. Reception Staff was very friendly. The overall impression of the hotel was clean. Unfortunately the bed was worn out and dusty, the toilet (in room) was sticky, especially... more
