I was searching for a motel that was cheap but had good ratings. this one was perfect. Part of the hotel was being renovated. We stayed in what must be newly renovated. Huge flat TV. Nice new furnishings. Microwave, fridge. Good bed. Very clean. The same woman served us every time at the desk. She was very helpful, friendly and... More

My partner and I went to Santa Barbara for the weekend. We were on a budget and just wanted somewhere safe to lay our heads. After searching on tripadvisor the sunset motel came up, it was only 2 stars but after reading the recent reviews which said it had been updated and had new owners, we thought we'd give it... More

This motel is under new ownership and the rooms have been nicely upgraded. I stayed in room #109, which had hardwood floors, a big LG TV, refrigerator, microwave, new and comfortable mattress, nice bathroom with shower and separate room for counter and sink. The room was super clean. The location of the property is also good, since it is on... More

This motel is a hidden gem. Not much from the outside, and there's no pool, but the rooms have new modern furniture and flat screens and ours was clean and had a microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, flat screen tv, hair dryer, etc. I was impressed and would pick it over motel 6 or super 8 any day.

Dirty floors, creaky bed, smoke from other rooms came into ours. When I checked in, the front desk clerk was terse, unfriendly, unprofessional and I could barely understand what she was saying. I should have stayed at the Motel 6 across the street. Even for $60 some a night, they should have decent customer service and have the place cleaned... More

The hotel is a little out of town and without a car would be buses. The hotel needs some work, if your only staying quickly over night, it's a cheap stay... The service at the front counter is as average as the rooms.

Stay here only if you want a terrible smelling room, bed linens that should have been put to rest many years ago, very run down. This hotel is not even in the category of budget but more like step above camping.

If you are looking for a basic, budget motel in very expensive Santa Barbara, this is the place for you. It has recently been very tastefully updated so the reviews about it's shabbiness are entirely outdated. We payed $90 off season for a king room that was clean, fresh and very attractive. I can't say anything negative about Sunset Motel,... More

A drive out from the sea front where the chain motels are. We paid $90 for a spotless room with two queen beds and a double sofa bed, which round here is good for the location. Santa barbera isn't cheap. The staff were really friendly, the wi fi fast.

This was the worst motel I've ever stayed in. It cost over $100. for a dated, ugly, dirty room and bathroom. The towels and washcloths were so threadbare, I couldn't believe they still used them. Everything in the room was OLD and needed replacing. I'll never stay there again.
