The El Prado is not my first choice but it can be a bargain if you call or web-surf well in advance and check in on a Sunday and leave Friday at noon. Weekends are always expensive in this town. The rates double for Friday and Saturday nights. Literally twice as much for the same room. Do NOT get a... more

We were with a car club that meets in Santa Barbara once a year for a 3 night weekend. The El Prado Inn was perfect for us. They have a garage underneath the building on both sides, and they gave us reserved parking for our cars (Cobras). They also put us all on the floors above that side of the... more

So my husband and I were travelling down the coast of California from San Francisco and made Santa Barbara the last stop before we drove back. Having stayed at three other hotels on our way south I was honestly very disappointed with this one. First of all, I tried to book it through hotels.com and was quoted $145 + tax/night... more

We've stayed at this location a few times. We like staying on State street so that we can walk around and enjoy downtown Santa Barbara. This hotel offers basic accommodations that appeal to budget minded travelers. The rooms are clean and the staff is friendly. They offer a limited continental style breakfast each morning in the lobby. There is a... more

So, after two nights at wonderful Hotel Oceana, I could not afford an expensive hotel anymore, and we were forced to take a room at a cheaper place that still had rooms available in Santa Barbara (wow, if all hotels are booked in March, what happens in the summertime???). Anyway, El Prado seemed to be like a good choice given... more

The good: Location. It is walking distance to State Street's restaurants and shops. Also, across the street, there is a market that has a deli. Good price. The bad: The cleaning crew somehow feels the need to douse the room with a room freshener that is so revolting. Had to ask for a different room - to no avail. Finally... more

I never got in the car, since everything was in walking distance. They have rooms in the back that are huge, private and I paid almost half than the Santa Barbara Hotel down the street. more

The El Prado is an old-school motel property which offers a good value for budget-conscious travelers who want to be near the action of State St in Santa Barbara. It's at the quieter end of town, but you can walk to the shops in a few minutes or ride the trolley all the way to the beach. Rooms are a... more

Darling, well appointed, reasonable and close to everything! I just adore this little hidden jewel at the end of the trolley line on State Street. We try to stay here every time we're in town! Sort of decorated in a Mission Style, the bathroom was spotless, the carpet clean and the soaps/lotions yummy smelling. There's a cute little deli across... more
