Wondering what a $130 room gets you in Santa Barbara in August? If it's the Holiday Lodge then it may be a dive. It's hard to believe such a place can demand (and get) more than $40 a night. Ok. What it has: a swimming pool, refrigerator in some rooms, microwave in others, tv with many channels, and thin walls that let you hear every one of them playing in the other rooms. Smelly carpets. Threadbare blanket. Why did I stay here? For the money, I thought, how bad could it be? more
