We arrived late in the day and were a offered an apartment....sounds nice, not! Luckily we viewed the room before we paid, the young hippy man tried to make out we had got a deal. Well, we only had to see the door open and decided it was not for us, the bed was being propped up by books, the... More

Arrived pretty late to SB. Ala Mar looked like the kind of motel that can sometimes surprise on the upside. Well, it didn't. In need of major refurb, and cleaning! The kind of place where you do not want to touch the floor barefooted

I stayed here for a couple of nights and got a good deal (not way is it worth the full price that is advertised via the various booking sights) by just turning up. Was given a room in the back alley which seems to be a 'back up room' as certainly doesn't resemble the pictures of the other rooms. The... More

This motel is in need of a huge remodel. Pictures online are nothing like the rooms they have. When we checked in and went to our room we were scared. The bed was so old that when you laid on it the springs all creaked with each little movement. We asked to see a different room and the second at... More

Spent the day in Santa Barbara and did not want to leave. I saw the vacancy sign in front of Ala Mar Motel and ran across the street from the beach to ask for the price of a room for one night, Armando, at the reception desk, was so sweet and accommodating. He said he could have a really nice... More

This is a nice little motel. Location is the best thing about this place. It is right across the street from the wharf. it is also less than a block from the trolley that takes you up State Street to all of the restaraunts and shops. This motel also has a sun deck that is a nice place to sit... More

Wonderful view on the beach, but the rest is literally depressing expecially the "so called" continental breakfast, never seen anything so sad. The rooms are just ok, not really clean and badly furnished with old and broken furnitures. Anyway acceptable for a one day stop over in Santa Barbara, for longer staying i would suggest other places.

We stayed for one night and had a 2 queens. Located directly on the pier and beside much more expensive hotels. Parking is free. Nice rooms with artificial fire place. Forget the breakfast. Wasn't good. But nobody will beat 99 USD + tax in this location.

I was on a West Coast road trip for my hen party with 2 of my girlfriends & we had nog planned any accommodation in Santa Barbara. We started driving to SB in the late afternoon from LA and by the time we arrived it was nightfall. With no idea where to go we just drove along the seafront and... More

A bit of a dump, but what a location. Beautiful outlook in all directions, but up close it's shabby and in need of repair and cleaning. Location can't be beat. But price for the area is very low. Obviously a great little motel back in the day.
