Came to Santa Barbara to check out colleges. Found The Sandman Inn on the internet. Great for traveling with teenagers. Free internet, free DVDs, friendly, helpful staff, beautiful pool & hot tub (they actually have 2 pools). The grounds are nicely landscaped and well maintained. The continental breakfast has a generous selection and is robust enough to count as real... More

I went to the Sandman with my preteen daughter and her cousin for a birthday girls weekend at her request. We chose the Sandman because they have a 2-room unit with a queen bed in each room - perfect for giggling girls! I'm a former Santa Barbara resident and travel there a few times a year. I have never stayed... More

Yes, I got the mid-week rate of around 70 bucks for one of our nights, and what a value. Two swimming pools, one spa that were well-maintained and clean. Had a great time in the spa over two days, as well as the pool. Breakfast was enough to get you going (cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc). Checkin was quick and I... More

I am mystified at the severity and misguided criticism of some of these reviews. I have stayed here at least six times and have never had a bad experience. The property is aging but aging well. If you like distinctive character with a 60s feel, this is it. Centrally situated to all SB amenities, it's far enough of the beaten... More

Stayed here one night over weekend and we were "upgraded" to room 216 which I'm not sure if this was some kind of joke. Room 216 is away from the street but sandwiched between a second pool, vending machines, ice machines. It has two doors to the outside plus windows on three sides so is not for those who need... After reading some of the unfavourable reviews of this hotel, I was a little trepidatious about the place, but I decided to take a chance as they were offering an attractive weekday rate. Some of what people said is true e.g., the room smelling musty open arrival, the poor soundproofing, and the noise fridgle. However, after airing the room out... More

The Sandman Inn. A let down by anyone's stretch of the imagination. Just looking at the photo now on Trip Advisor I can barely belive its the same place. The room was a decent size with all the bits you would expect from a roadside motel but was let down in other areas: 1. The room had three doors. Yes... More

We arrived at the Sandman straight after a great few nights at the opulent Mandalay Bay in Vegas so our impression of it may have been slightly clouded but I have NOTHING good to say about the Sandman. Location is not great - reasonably far from the beach and town. Room is shabby. Bathroom didn't look overly clean. Doors didn't... More

Our room was ~$180.00 for one night. It was very expensive for the room we were given. Our room was shabby, worn out ; the swimming pool was murky. The motel needs updating. The photos on their website must have been taken long ago. It does have a good location if you want to go downtown, to UCSB, and Santa... More
