Great place to stay in Santa Barbara, Rooms were clean and quite large, Shower was a bit average, free breakfast was good, great location and excellent pool and jacuzzi, would definitely stay there again.

I made group reservations and thereafter the sales manager wouldn't return my calls or emails. About two days before our stay she finally contacted me to firm things up. They were also inflexible on billing issues, flexibility which I have had from every other hotel I deal with in my job. The front desk was generally polite. The biggest thing... More

Santa Barbara is a pricey destination. My daughter attends school there, so I've been looking for a reasonable clean place to stay. This is a '60's motor Inn kind of property, but it is very nicely kept, and is a good value for the area. At the top of state street, so its easy to jump on the 101 to... More

During the time of writing, the Sandman Inn in Santa Barbara was rated 20th of 59 hotels. We drove or walked by a vast majority of the other SB hotels and we can easily imagine how much worse than the Sandman Inn they can be based on their exteriors, but the Sandman Inn's exterior looks fine--no extreme wear or peeling... Reception was friendly and efficient, the unit with 2 rooms for the 3 of us was great, 1 tv in each room, a mini fridge in 1 room, mini fridge too small only a couple of can fit there, the pool area was lovely, the grounds were clean and well kept, the breakfast room was very nicely painted and had... Since graduation we travel up from LA about once a year. When the SBCVA Celebration of Harvest caused room rates to rise, I had to look for a new spot that would fit the budget and provide a comfortable convenient spot between campus and downtown. The room included a min-fridge, microwave, coffee maker and toiletries. Clean, no frills, basic cable,... More

Excellent newly refurbished hotel! It's got cosy rooms, nice pools and even free continental breakfast. They even offered free rentals from their big dvd library to play in the in-room dvd player. Nice idea!

Stayed here for three nights - and a very nice place too. We did have to change rooms after one night (dodgy light fitting), but the staff were very helpful and efficient. Room was good with fridge, good flat-screen tv and very comfy beds. There was a very nice friendly feel to the place and they even offer free dvd... More

The photos on the Sandman's web-site don't do it justice. I hold my verdict on a hotel after having spent a night there and this place passed with honors. It is seriously excellent value. Modest rooms, but clean, fresh, good wifi, pleasant unobtrusive and helpful staff. Away from the action of the beach area at the other end of State... More

Room 553, two double beds. Weird, pungent smell in the room. Some combination of mildew and the cleanser they used to try to mask the smell. Very shabby, run down. Just kinda gross in general. Staff was friendly. Freeway close. Internet didn't work in room, only in lobby. Oddly, the reviews on hotels.com sounded pretty good. My guess is that... More
