This hotel looks like it hasn't changed in years.... the carpet, the bed, the linens, the fixtures, and definitely the tiny window air conditioners haven't been changed in years. Everything was clean - but obviously showing signs of wear. When we walked into the room it had a strong musty odor, and the tiny (extremely noisy) air conditioner did cool... More

I checked in late at night, just needing an inexpensive few hours of sleep, but I quickly discovered that they want to make me feel taken care of. It's not just the normalish free wi-fi and toiletries, it's the provision of hard and soft pillows with pleasant signs on the bed letting me know which was which, for my comfort.... More

I visited Santa Barbara for the festivities surrounding the Santa Barbara Minute Film Festival, which included a concert by the band Fogelfoot. As per usual, I waited until the last minute and tried to book the cheapest hotel possible. Unlike a recent trip to the awful Plaza Hotel in Vegas (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g45963-d97815-r53397993-Plaza_Hotel_Casino-Las_Vegas_Nevada.html), however, in which I followed the same latest/cheapest guidelines,... We were there during the Film Festival. I had never been to Santa Barbara, and the Sandman is in a great location. I took the bus downtown one afternoon which was interesting, walked over to the mall another afternoon...I liked the room we had very much and thought the overall ambience to be very nice. My husband had stayed there... More

I came to the Sandman Inn with my husband who was in Santa Barbara on business. The rooms are typical and include a microwave and small fridge. Clean, comfy bed, quiet, there is no gym but they offer a day pass to a local gym. They offer a free breakfast which includes easy stuff, instant oatmeal, cereal, juice, apples and... More

Room was dirty! Carpet looked like it was a petri dish of nastiness! Our room was located in the back behind some wall that sure didn't make us feel safe at night when we checked in. I know for a fact we were charged way too much, but it was late and there was no other hotel with rooms available... More

Upon telling staff they only gave me 30% off and refused to reimburse my credit card. microwave shorted out and almost exploded, tub tiles broke, rodent holes in bathroom, and tub stopper non existant therefore unable to take a bath. Blinds cracked , dirty, and broken providing no privacy in... More

We were surprised with the comfort of the room. The overall size of the room is on the small size, but it provided ample room. Was nice to have the small refrigerator in the room, unlike allot of your more expensive hotels that don’t provide or at a cost. The hotel is conveniently located five minutes from downtown “State St”.... More
