Nice breakfast, little touches, quiet, & clean for the money. Read other reviews for room selection advice. Ours was near but not adjacent the pool but away from the main street and we were happy with it. Some rooms may be more updated than others. Location is away from beach & main shopping. We would come back if we were... More

For the price we got and the location it was in I loved this little motel! Rooms are clean, staff is nice. Continental breakfast was AMAZING. Needs more recognition. We have a great time staying close to downtown SB.

This is a sprawling property along many other similar hotels in State Street, a 5-minutes drive from the city beach and with lots of shops and dining options nearby. The room we got was simple but very clean; it was a 2nd floor room, quiet and more than enough for a no-nonsense couple (if you don't have problems with two... More

What a disappointment . The room was full of ants. Room was very dated and dirty. We had to leave after 2 days. Couldn't take it any more. Do not book through hotels.com. They would not refund us under any circumstances.

Dear guest, I am sorry that you had such a unsatisfactory stay here with us at The Sandman Inn. Unfortunately to due California's and Santa Barbara's extreme drought that is currently crippling the state, the drought has made all the insects and animals desperate for water and food. Ants in particular are affected by the drought, as the city cuts... More

The Sandman inn is a simple and clean place just a 5min drive from downtown SB. I recommend to ask for a room on the second floor as it was incredibly loud to be on the ground floor. You can hear EVERY move from the people upstairs. We left a jacket behind and the staff found it and mailed it... More

I accidentally booked our hotel for the wrong night, when we arrived at 11pm in Santa Barbara on Labor Day weekend - we were stranded. Thank goodness for this place, they were able to accommodate us and give us a huge clean, comfortable room to spend the night. The front desk agent was so nice and cheerful and tried to... More

We picked this one because of the price and it was a good choice. Great value for money! Rooms are nice and clean, you can sleep without noise, hotel also has pool and free wifi. Breakfast is just ok. Eduardo the brasilian guy who works in the front desk is very nice.

First stop-off point on a road trip from Orange County-San Francisco. Room was large with huge (and comfy) double bed. Nice bathroom with powerful shower. Reception staff were very helpful and friendly, offering advice on best places to park in town centre and good places to eat. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Continental breakfast was served in 50s-style Al's... More

It was a beautiful location on the state street in SB. Downtown was reachable in about 10 minutes by car. It is a pretty big area with several buildings. I would always prefer a room in the back because of the state street. We got a room in the back on 2nd floor. The room was clean, but a little... More
