This is an older property that has been updated with many modern conveniences. Most of the units are in single-story buildings with high ceilings (no worry about noise from upstairs). I have a list of pros and cons, but first want to suggest that only visitors planning to stay longer than a weekend will benefit from the "pros" and get... More

The Sandman is situated nicely on upper State Street away from the crowds. I always look forward to relaxing by pool and spa beneath swaying palms after a day of hiking or beaching. Nearby access to Hwy 154 takes you to SB wine country and hikes in Paradise Valley. The Mission and SB Botanical Garden are also an easy day... More

This was a very affordable hotel in Santa Barbara where lodging is expensive. It was very clean but a bit run down. (My shower rod fell on us each time we entered the shower and our door was hard to close to our room.) We did not sleep well as it was poorly soundproofed and our neighbors were loud and... More

Poor start as no flexibility on check in and no restroom available for our son. Manager stepped in to resolve. We are travelling with our two sons and so an adjoining room was most appreciated. Clean room, with flat screen TVs, DVD, microwave etc Shower head height too low for me (I am 185 cm) Highlight was the continental breakfast.... More

We spent two nights in the Hotel in May 2013 and I remember, it was one of the cheapest Hotels in Santa Barbara with a good review on Tripadvisor ;) The rooms are clean, the beds very comfortable. Nothing special, it´s a bit poorly soundproofed, but with earplugs it was no problem as there weren´t so many loud guests. The... More

There are nice hotels in SB that are close to the beach and are expensive, and then there are cheaper hotels further inland. This place has kind of a run down 50's type of vibe to it. Not complaining- it was inexpensive and there was breakfast included, good wifi, and a couple of small swimming pools, It was clean and... More

I am not real picky about motels as long as they are clean. This one gave me pause. The shower/tub was not as clean looking as I would like. Worse, THERE WAS NO TOP SHEET on our bed. I called for one and they brought it about forty minutes later. Tired and ready for bed already!!! The grand kids were... More

This motel is on really pretty grounds and has two lovely, clean pools. When researching accommodation in Santa Barbara I realised pretty quickly that our budget wasn't going to stretch to a hotel within an easy walk of the beach or downtown. So, while the Sandmann Inn is situated on State Street, Santa Barbara's main drag, it is still a... More

We stayed in this hotel for one night in June 2014. The check-in process was good. A very courteous gentleman did our check-in and offered various room choices to pick one from. He was also helpful in suggesting dinning places in the neighborhood as well as downtown since we asked him being new to the area. The room condition is... More

Our room was beside the pool and was spacious and clean. The setting was lovely and relaxing after our long trip from the UK. Fridge and coffee making facilities in room and bottles of water were supplied. There was a dining table and chairs and comfy bed. Breakfast was adequate, but dining room a bit basic.
