We were recommended The Montecito Inn by a friend for a low-key weekend getaway. Was not disappointed! Hotel is well maintained, rooms are newly renovated (but still keep their old charm), and the staff is very nice and helpful. Highlights include the complimentary continental breakfast, free bikes to ride downtown (20 minute ride or so on the bike path) and... More

I loved that this place was small and not part of a hotel chain. If you are looking for classy, quiet yet vibrant, a great breakfast, modern chic upgrades (except the bathroom) and in the best location this is your place. Pros: Cool elevator! It's original to the hotel. FREE (yes free) beach cruisers to rent. That is a savings... More

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Montecito Inn! Visited last weekend for the first time and was very impressed by the entire experience from the warm welcome at the front desk, to the elegant and modern decor, to the complimentary fruit and coffee/tea in lobby, to the free bike rentals (quick, easy ride to downtown SB), to the great restaurants... The Montecito was everything that I had hoped for! It was charming, rooms were nice and spacious, beds were very comfortable, fridge is well stocked and reasonably priced, robes were nice and fluffy! The entire place was beautifully decorated, they did not miss even the slightest thing. The elevator was really neat, and like others, if you want a fast... More

All I can say is we did our homework before we stayed here. We anticipated small rooms, creaky floors, thin walls. It's a small, older hotel for goodness sake, and so with that in mind, we loved our stay here. We took the lumps and bumps with stride, and actually found ourselves often pleasantly surprised. The few cons: -- Yes,... More

They say this place was built in the 20's. The cost of the room should be in the 20s. We paid top dollar to stay there on our first wedding anniversary and were really disappointed. Our room was small with a view of an air-conditioner vent. The floor squeaked and the refrigerator didn't work. The breakfast they offered was croissants... More

Clearly Charlie Chaplin had a dream to house his friends and others in Santa Barbara. It may have been fine in the 1920's. The 1970 update made finishes nicer, BUT: that does not make it acceptable to have an air conditioning that smells like a dank basement not opened for decades, nor a shower that scalds and freezes intermittently, nor... I was attending a conference being held at the 4 Seasons and the rooms sold out so I booked at the Montecito Inn instead and was very happily surprised. The hotel was beautiful and the rooms spacious and quiet. The beds were super comfortable. Very nice fitness center. They had high quality coffee and tea as well as fresh fruit... More

Stayed here with my wife and daughter. We had a room with a king bed and a double. Even though the hotel was built a long time ago, it was still a large room. The beds were some of the most comfortable we have ever slept on at a hotel. Our room also had TWO bathrooms! As mentioned the hotel... More
