The staff at the Upham Hotel are fantastic! This has to be one of my most favourable and memorable business trips to date and so much of it is due to the courtesy and generosity of the hotel staff. Some of my highlights: * Hotel allowed me to use their address to receive shipments from Amazon (and dropped them in... More

I did not stay here as an overnight guest, but as a day guest during a 5-day conference. Therefore I cannot speak to the rooms. The rest of the hotel warmed my heart though. It has an overwhelming charm that immediately intrigued me. Everything feels calming and soothing, like time runs on a different pace. The service was warm and... More

You'll feel like you've had a break once you've stayed here, as I routinely do in passing through Santa Barbara. Not exactly a hotel, more like a B&B -- think, bungalow / cottage lifestyle with parking INCLUDED. No need for a valet or bellman, as none of the rooms are far off the narrow meandering path. Still, the city's oldest... More

This was a last minute trip, and the Upham was one of the few decent looking hotels with availability. However, it turned out to be much better than expected! It's a really cute hotel! And I was so happy to see how clean and comfortable the room was. Granted, the walls are pretty thin, but, for me, it wasn't bothersome.... More

Perfectly located just two short blocks from what is really the top of State Street with all its fantastic shopping and restaurants. We opted for a cottage and ended up returning a week later as we had a Santa Barbara wedding to attend, it was perfect. Real cold snap over Christmas 2014/5 so the “Fireside” Cottage options were the go,... More

Oldest hotel in SB, according to our native SB taxi driver. Key Points: :: Very pretty old home look & feel, with lovely (small) fireplace area in lobby. :: Rooms are less impressive in person than in the photos, but the bed was quite comfy. :: No view from most of the rooms, which was disappointing. You must book a... More

It's a super cute property that we booked for New Years Eve wanting to stay in a traditional Santa Barbara property. We weren't disappointed by its ambience as it was extremely cute and rooms were classically decorated without feeling old. The wine and cheese happy hour was also a nice touch. However, the walls and ceiling must be the thinnest... More

Terrific find! Quaint, clean and romantic. The service was friendly and everything from milk and cookies at night to coffee and muffins in the morning spoke of quality. The one small fault would be the parking layout but that's nitpicking. I'd stay again in a heartbeat and it was convenient to everything.

Very charming hotel in a great location, within walking distance of State street. Breakfast is pretty basic, cereal, yogurt, bagels... they do offer a cheese spread with crackers and wine in the afternoon and cooking and milk at night. I was a bit disappointed with the cookies as I thought they would be housemade. However, all you get is oreos...... More

I am a frequent business traveler and choose the Upham whenever I need to stay in or around the Santa Barbara area. Wonderful rooms, amazing staff and terrific atmosphere. The adjoining restaurant is also quite amazing.
