Excellent Service; very clean meeting and guest rooms; grounds are immaculate, very relaxed setting....distant enough to gather one's thoughts in peace and quiet. Excellent restaurant attached for guests.

My average score is based on value and while I understand Santa Barbara is expensive and awash with tourists, my experience tells me that the Upham is over-priced for what you get. I won't be as scathing as Travelgrandma below but I do think their is a lack of attention to detail here that should be demanded at this price.... More

This was our first time at the Upham, booked online about 8months in advance. The hotel grounds and setting are delightful and the reception staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful when needed. The continental breakfast and tea / coffee provision is great. The location is convenient for state street and access to the state street shuttle and wider road... More

I am amazed by these other reviews. I will never stay here again. Totally overpriced, over rated, over everything!! Felt like the bates motel from hell! No parking. No handicap facilities. No service. Rooms are dark, noisy, very, very small. Bathroom is tiny. You have to move the bath mat to close the bathroom door. Single sink. Room is tiny,... More

It is Shocking! This past Wednesday started with a major break in our water line. We had no warning and had to shut off our water immediately to half the rooms on our property. Consequently, we did not have a chance to warn our guests in advance. We are also extremely sorry to learn of our guest's extreme dissatisfaction with... More

The Upham feels like what a country club might be. Gracious foyer and sitting rooms, continental breakfast (excellent and included in the room cost) available in the conservatory, classy decor everywhere. (But not daunting like some of those five star boutiques tend to be) Tea and coffee available all day and it was terrific to sit in the sitting room,... More

We were so happy with our stay at the Upham Hotel. The building is historic (it is Santa Barbara's oldest hotel) and charming. The front desk clerk at check-in was also charming and super friendly. He drew out a map to a half-dozen wonderful dining options, all within easy walking distance (this part of Santa Barbara is full of them).... More

We stayed in one of the cottages and found it a great experience. The cottage was small but we had everything we needed including high end toiletries. We were delighted to have our own private patio. Afternoon wine and cheese is available and we found that a nice touch. The complementary breakfast was excellent. Several restaurants are within easy walking... More

The entire family stayed at this hotel for a destination wedding in Santa Barbara and it was a perfect fit. Very few rooms are alike so it offers something for everyone. One family stayed the two bedroom cottage with a patio making it perfect for leaving the kids with a babysitter. They offer complimentary breakfast, happy hour wine and Oreos... More

Great hotel for a business trip. Comfortable, productive and efficient. Great nights sleep and very relaxing breakfast in the morning. Staff was wonderful. Even ate lunch at the restaurant which was fantastic.

My husband and I spend our wedding night, 10 year anniversary and just recently our 20th year anniversary here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The grounds are so pretty and relaxing - love all the Adirondacks. The breakfast buffet was especially nice. We will be back and do recommend this to friends and family.
