This hotel advertised itself as a boutique hotel. Very smart as a marketing ploy, but far from what I consider a boutique hotel. The Morgan is like a haphazard renovation of a seedy hotel. Mismatched furniture, lamps, fixtures, tile, etc... Fairly clean. No air conditioning. Who doesn't have air conditioning? Wretched sleeping overlooking the parking lot. Would not stay here... More

This is a really hard review to write. I will say that I'm pretty picky when it comes to hotels. Needless to say, when my family pulled up to the Morgan, we were a little concerned. The entire area was filled with more "motel" type accommodations. The Morgan property is a juxtaposition of motel-like features, with nicer rooms. We were... More

Last February I made a reservation for 2 rooms in this hotel. The reservation was for 1 night in July 17 for our family. 3 weeks ago I called the hotel to make sure we still have these rooms available for us and I got a positive confirmation that all is set. On July 17, we left San Francisco and... More

I was surprised by how nice this hotel was. The only bad thing is that it's kind of in the middle of nowhere and all the restaurants around it are horrible. The room was very big, the beds comfortable, the pool was heated, and the staff were some of the friendliest out of all the places we stayed. If you... More

I reserved the room online, and was delighted when I received an email about a week before my visit, asking about my preferences. I requested a bottle of chardonnay, and after checking in from my camping trip down the coast, I was really looking forward to a cold bottle of wine waiting for me in the room. Unfortunately, it wasn't... More

Don't be fooled by the name, Julia Morgan is rolling over in her grave having this place associated with her. Curb appeal upon entering the parking lot will give you some optimism of your stay, and the lobby area is inviting. This is where any hope of a pleasant 1 night stay ended.. In our experience the first impression of... More

The Morgan is a fantastic place to stay while in San Simeon. We arrived here in the evening after driving from San Fransisco and on the way to LA. Stopped and saw the amazing seals jousting on the shore and the squirrels running at your feet! The hotel concierge was brilliant - very accommodating and friendly. The rooms are cozy... More

This hotel was terrible. It looks nothing like the website photos. The walls were made of paper and it was not worth the price at all! I'd never recommend staying there. The breakfast was pretty yucky too. Overall this was a huge disappointment. The only plus was the proximity to Hearst castle.

We stayed at The Morgan during our visit to San Simeon. We didn't realize there is nothing to do in San Simeon except for the Hearst Castle (which is why we were there!). The Morgan actually showed up on Groupon, and the Groupon allowed us to book for one night (whereas online we were only able to book for a... More

The hotel is very nice and surpassed all of my standards, and I'm a germophobe! Comfortable bed, clean clean clean. Nice snack bar in room and delicious breakfast in lobby. Plus, free WiFi! They even gave our dogs a little welcome bag! Very short walk to the ocean, too.
