We spent one night here on our way from LA to SF. We had another hotel reserved in Carmel but left Morro Bay too late. We saw Ragged Point and decided to spend night here. We were given cozy room with gas fireplace overlooking the ocean. Room was quiet and very basic but comfortable for roadside inn. If weather serves... More

Was told room had partial view of ocean. Was only visible from room,if you could fit out of window & sit on roof top. Fridge didn't work - had to have repairman up to fix. Was told we could upgrade for another $130. No AC. Stayed here many years ago & really enjoyed. But now only rooms are really expensive... More

Loved the inn, but the restaurant was just "OK". My husband and I stayed at the wonderful inn for 2 nights. We ate at the full service restaurant on the 1st night, the expression bar, the 2nd. At the restaurant the food was overpriced for the quality. We had the calamari appetizer, which was the low point of the meal.... More

I booked this hotel thinking that it would be lovely to stay at Big Sur but wasn't sure if the hotel would be very good - I wondered if it might be relying upon its location. I needn't have worried. Our room (upstairs) had wonderful views and, whilst being a little drab decor-wise, was lovely and big, very clean and... More

Driving on scenic Highway 1 on the way back from Hearst castle, Ragged Point Inn is the ideal location for ocean and sunset views. Very nice outdoor seating for breakfast and lunch. The room with a fireplace was comfortable and clean.

We recently stopped here while traveling north on the scenic highway. The reservation had been made by a family member, so the location and setting was a surprise. If you like brand new, high tech, super modern hotels - this is NOT the place for you! If you can over look the age of the buildings and appreciate the beauty... More

Location ideal for the Big Sur coast, Hearst Castle, whale watching and seals. The rooms overlook the ocean. Quite spectacular. Fantastic sunsets. We booked for one night as intending to pass through but stayed for two. The room was large, two very comfortable queen size beds, clean, proper mugs and glasses rather than polystyrene, which is unusual, and a tea making... More

You pick this place for the location... not the rooms. The room I had was old but maintained well and very clean. My only gripe about the room was the mattress! I've never been on a mattress that was so noisy! I could hear springs moving when I sat down... when I rolled... any movement at all and the mattress... More

Do not expect a nice room, but if your expectations are in check then you will be very satisfied with this inn. From what I saw in Big Sur there was not a luxury inn. This one is clean and well maintained but dated. We had a second story room overlooking the cliffs. I believe most do. The view was... More

This is a great place. The facilities were clean and well kept. Walking paths and "two Cialis chairs" for the views. Room 8 is the choice is you want a great view of the ocean and the rocks. The room was immaculate. They even have real china plates and coffee cups in the room. Nice size bathroom. Good water pressure.... More
