Gorgeous historic inn with a fabulous atmosphere mostly thanks to Paul, our host and chef! He went out of his way to make our experience in SLO absolutely superb! Great downtown location close to the farmers market. Grab some bikes from Wally's, a great way to spend the day!

Garden Street Inn is charming. I stayed in the Cocoon room. Room is spacious with a fireplace and a big bathroom with a claw foot bath. Reception staff very friendly and helpful. Inn is ideally located in the downtown area close to Higuera street. A nice touch was the biscuits hanging off my door knob when I returned after a... More

We booked close to half the hotel for NYE. The accommodations were wonderful. The manager and his assistant were wonderful to work with. They let us have the space for a rather large NYE party. They were also able to accommodate our vegan diets for breakfast :). Our room was beautiful, clean, and lovely...adorned with delightful antique furnishings. We look... More

I used to live in SLO. One of the reasons I moved there was the time I spent at the Garden Street Inn. I stayed there for the first time in the late 80's I think it was, right after Dan Smith had finished the renovations and opened the Inn for business. Over the years, I've probably spent at least... Nice but not efficient and needs some restoration. By the way they decided to do it right now, on a friday afternoon while guests are still in! Moreover, the smell of cooking (onion omelette) is spread all over..at five o'clock pm! TV is not working and you need a Master to use the shower. Staff is friendly but this is... More

We visited the GSI for 3 nights. It was the second time we have stayed there (the first being in January last year). The inn is in a super location and walking distance to restaurants, bars, shops, movie theater etc. However the inn itself is showing signs of major wear. While it is in a historic house the inn could... More

Hello Vicki, I am truly sorry that your stay was not up to par. I do agree with you on the makeover. At this time I am working closely with the owners to accomplish some makeover during the winter months. I also have been thinking of bringing back the wine and cheese hour on selected days. Thank you for voicing... More

We were invited by our best friends to join them here for a few days. We found the place is perfect situated downtown within walking distance of everything. The Innkeepers were great and the breakfasts were fantastic. The rooms were very nicely decorated and comfortable. I highly recommend this B&B.

This B&B has loads of charm. A family home built in in the 1880s, it has the 20 foot ceilings and the 23 stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor of the era. No elevator or TV at all may dissuade some from staying, but shouldn't. Ask for the bedroom on the first floor if you have trouble climbing... More

We stayed there for one night in October during our Honeymoon, in order to cut our drive off the Coast. We stayed in the “Close to Home” room, or something along that line. The room we had was quite large, comfortable and very charming (Victorian style). Breakfast was amazing. The location was perfect. Wish we could have stayed an extra... More

My wife and I spent three nights in the Cocoon Room in Sept 2014. Nice place located in the middle of SLO, easy to walk to any of many places to eat or shop. The east side (Cocoon) is next to a business parking lot so leaving the windows open was a bit noisy but enjoying the cool air was... More
