Absolutely amazing. I planned a getaway for my fiancee and myself and I couldn't have picked a better place. The serenity of the rooms packed with the hospitality of our hostess was more than anyone could have planned for. I loved my 3-night stay at the Sanitarium. It was the perfect antidote to my crazy work life in LA. It is a lovely B&B located about 5 blocks from the main drag at SLO. There are better-located B&B's relative to the main drag than the Sanitarium, but the extra distance and the extra cost is worth the stay. You... more

The Sanitarium experience is absolutely lovely! The owner Susie and her staff are more than accommodating and completely WOW'd us! I highly recommend the Sanitarium for the discerning traveler who desires a serene and welcoming environment. more

Dream-like, not for everyone...a fairy castle run by four women artists in a Victorian sanitarium, in a quiet neighborhood a couple of blocks from the rail station. The Sanitarium has the potential to be one of the best bed and breakfasts in the country. It is beautifully decorated and has a quirky bohemian charm missing from most inns/hotels.
