San Juan Bautista has long been one of my favorite places to visit in California - characterful and comparatively unspoiled - but there was never an appealing place to stay the night. Until now. Hacienca de Leal has largely fixed that problem: the new owners have made major investments in this former econo-motel property and the results, especially in the... More

We stayed here the first weekend in May for a wedding that was taking place in Tres Pinos. Don't judge the property from the outside. It looks like a whitewashed motel. The property was updated last year with new room decor, updated bathrooms and a courtyard for afternoon wine or the complimentary morning breakfast ( which comes from their excellant... More

On our trip up the coast to see many of the California missions, we wound up needing a place to stay in San Juan Bautista. What a great surprise - Le Hacienda is completely redone with an eye to style and every comfort imaginable. The hotel starts with great Spanish architecture, provides a gorgeous and spacious patio full of beautifully... More

Had a wonderful stay last weekend at this beautiful Hacienda. From the moment we stepped in we felt that we were at another place someplace where we would need our passports! The wine was delicious, the rooms had great furniture, very comfy beds, the transportation and our time at the Grove was amazing, and the breakfast the next day was... More

This is a great find for staying in the area. Beautifully redone, comfortable, California elegance, nice courtyard filled with olive trees, clean, well-managed, especially nice breakfast, and very nice staff. Best option for visiting Pinnacles National Park if not camping or for the night before. Away from the the strip mall world of Hollister. Short pleasant walk to see Mission... More

I found this hotel by searching reviews on TripAdvisor. Stayed there for one night prior to a meting in Santa Cruz (40 minutes drive) so that I could stop in at the historic San Juan Bautista mission. Recently renovated and now part of the Leal Vineyards group, the hotel is designed as a square on two levels around a large... More

What a lucky find! Five of us girls went to San Juan Bautista to see the Christmas play at the Mission. This was a blind booking and we were amazed at our warm welcome from Valentino, complimentary glasses of wine, and the nicely decorated, spacious, and immaculate rooms! Valentino recommended a great restaurant and provided our transportation (via Cadillac) there,... More

We stayed at this reborn hotel a week ago and loved it. I liked the excellent service that we got from the young people who manage the hotel, providing us with wine the first night we were there and turning on the outdoor fire ring for us. The breakfast, which is part of the hotel price, was fantastic. The room... More
