This hotel makes a big deal about its beds and bed linen but I've had better in a Best Western. Wi-Fi access was good but would you expect any less in Silicon Valley? We were attending a convention and had a much reduced room rate. I wouldn't have been happy to pay the regular rate. Our room was very small... More

I had to go to a holiday party in San Jose and chose this hotel because of both price and location. The second I pulled my car into the valet I knew I had hit the jackpot. Everyone is so nice and helpful there. The restaurant, Il Fornaio, is fantastic. I took my clients there before and after the party....very... More

As others have stated the walls are paper thin and every EMS vehicle that drove by in the middle of the night sounded like it was going through my room. Just like anything after my 4th night I didn't hear them unless crime was down. I could hear word for work the converstations in the rooms next to me. The... More

Stayed with a colleague for three nights in late October at an average rate of $169 per night (excl taxes, etc) for a convention. I vacillated on scoring The Sainte Claire finally settling on 4 rather than 3 stars. The good: The location is excellent (right across the street from the convention center), the rooms are fine, the wifi worked,... More

Very nice location, in downtown San Jose. Very nice and elegant hotel. However, the room was very noisy. To be fair, when I checked in, the front desk staff asked me if I wanted a room that faced the street or a quieter room that faced away from the street. So if you're a light sleeper, I'd recommend asking for... More

I typically search out more interesting hotels when traveling to a conference. The discounted hotels are typically mundane but directly adjacent or a part of the conference center. Not my idea of a good time in a new location. In this case, the Sainte Claire offered what looked like the character that comes from an older, but well cared for... More

I stayed one night for a business meeting (which was held at the hotel itself), and we were all very impressed with this site. In particular, the food at the restaurant is really exceptional, with stellar service. The staff were all helpful and exceedingly kind. The rooms are small but nicely appointed. The air conditioning in the room goes on... More

Nice historic hotel. Friendly staff. Valet parking $21. In the heart of downtown. Our room was average size with a cute vintage bathroom containing L'Occitane bath products. Our room faced San Carlos street which has a street car on it (track noise and bells ringing early and late). The air-conditioner was also rather loud switching on and off all night.... More

This hotel is absolutely beautiful, centrally located, and walking distance to the SJ Jazz Festival. Next year I will stay the entire weekend. Let me also say the staff is superb....
