I booked this hotel based on convenience to the SJ Convention Center. As noted in other review, it's an older hotel with old style charm. They are in the process of renovating and will be joining the Westin group. Your can't self park your car at the hotel, so valet is right out front and $31 per day/night. Check in... More

Nice lobby, speedy check-in, kind service, good italian food (I am italian), reliable and consistent free internet access, great location close to downtown and very comfortable bed with great soft pillows. That sums up the positives. That said, there is quite some improvements needed: 1. Carpets need to be changed, have bad odours because old. 2. Rooms need to be... More

I was surprised to find this beautiful old hotel in downtown San Jose. The lobby is beautiful and service outstanding. Rooms are reasonably spacious and quite comfortable. Two floors are currently undergoing renovation so you may hear some noise during daytime hours. Also the hotel is haunted by a famous ghost named Julia. (google her) Luckily she is very polite... Entering lobby area is like going back in time, shiny marble floors, cathedral cielings, and rich wood finishes. My room was one of the older ones...comfortable with the streetcars humming by every once in a while. Construction was going on but the noise stopped at 5pm. Italian restaurant in lobby area has a friendly bar and a very good menu... More

This is the place to stay in downtown San Jose. I have tried all the other hotels around and near the convention center and this small gem is a welcome change - a more personalized and quaint setting with a rather better restaurant than the Marriott or Hilton. The Fairmont and Four Points are the two other options and this... More

The Saint Claire may be an older lady, but she's aged very gracefully. Loved the imitation view of the sky in the bathroom, the absolutely huge flat screen Samsung TV, and the wonderfully responsive staff. Only down side to the visit was the renovation project going on the floor above ours. Definitely in love with the Claire.

The Sainte Claire is a quaint, architecturally beautiful hotel with a great deal of unrealized potential. Going into the hotel, we had read online that the Sainte Claire is an older hotel. We were fine with that. What was problematic for us at first was the room's condition. In fact, the condition of our first two rooms. Once we checked... More

Great service and a friendly and professional staff. They are currently under remodel, so there is banging during business hours, M-F. I had one of the rooms yet to be remodeled and it had some great architectural details. My folks had one of the remodeled rooms, which was lovely. I wish they had kept a little bit more of the... Lobby is beautiful. Yes the hotel is old, nostalgic, historic etc. However, the carpet in the hallway is disgustingly dirty, mattress is hard and the linens are so scratchy. Rooms are small, our view from our room looks like a prison yard. Would NOT stay here again. Oh and it's mandatory valet at 29$ per day....ouch

The Sainte Claire Hotel is a historical hotel right across from the convention center and literally a block away from the downtown strip on First Avenue. First of all, you walk into a beautiful lobby that is right out of the turn of the century California. HIgh ceilings with beautiful decor. Check in with the front staff was efficient and... More
