After reading several reviews from past customers I'm curious why the staff would not admit to this problem. WALLS ARE TOO THIN.... Went out in San Jose on Thursday night to enjoy a Sharks game. Got back to the room around 1:30 am. There was just two of us in the room having a NORMAL VOLUME conversation with the tv... More

Dear C94545, The nature of our hotel is unique for the downtown atmosphere and many of our travelers enjoy the history and quaint style of our guest rooms. Your late arrival to our hotel is not common for our guest environment and it is obvious that we could not suit your needs following your night out on the town. With... More

This hotel is in the center of a nice location in San Jose. I wish we could have spent more time here. Other reviews have complained about the noise. I am a light sleeper and I don't travel without my iPod. There was an iPod station in the room and nothing bothers me after I start my white noise. The... More

This is a lovely old hotel on the edge of the nice are of downtown, so convenient to many things. Service and staff were great, and the rooms were nice. Downside is the walls are like tissue. You can practically hear your neighbors breathing, let alone talking or anything else. And every person passing in the hall. It was hard... More

I ran the 2013 San Jose Rock & Roll Marathon last October & I will say that I had a wonderful night sleep before the race at this hotel! It was perfect for what my husband & I needed! It was walking distance to where the race started & ended. The room was clean & the hotel was sold out... More

This is a charming historic hotel, set in an excellent location for downtown San Jose. I stayed for two nights, and received a quiet room with no connecting door. This made for a peaceful rest. I stay in lots of modern fancy brands, and they're fine, but more or less interchangeable. This place is one of a kind.

The hotel is a historic hotel set in downtown San Jose. The building is older so the walls are a little thinner. The building has been updated for comfort and the old style charm has been left. The rooms are pleasant and comfortable. Make sure you understand what is happening at the convention center when you book as those people... More

Unless you are just a real fan of historic hotels and/or hotels that may be haunted, skip this one and instead pick the Marriott which is right across the street, or the Fairmont which is just a block down. The walls here are very thin and the bathrooms are in need of updating. It's a beautiful historic building but that... More

I like the historic hotels and this one has some hits and misses. The lobby is nice and has an Il Fornaio Restaurant as the hotel venue. If you need late night food, the Original Joe's just next door is open until 12 M. We were on the 5th floor facing the street and did not find the tram noise... More

We stayed here for one night to attend a concert at the SAP Center. We got a premium king room that was nicely furnished and large. It overlooked the street, but there was very little noise. The bathroom was rather small but well laid out. The ceiling painting was a nice touch, but the wooden vanity top needs to go... More

I was excited to stay at the Sainte Claire because I love historic hotels, but unfortunately, the St. Claire felt more "old" than "historic". The good news is that they are renovating and that we didn't see or hear any indication of construction during our short, one night stay. The bad news is that the renovation is long overdue. Our...
