What a great location to stay. Very friendly and welcoming hosts gave us a really nice room for our group of 6 and explained the entire area very well. We went for dinner and afterwards enjoyed hanging out at the campfire with them. Lovely! Definitely stay here!

Every time I'm at the Salton Sea, which can be up to three times a year, I stay at Ray and Carol's. The rooms are clean, the showers are hot, and it's the safest place I've ever stayed. And coffee - as much as you want to drink - gets made every day automatically! The owners, Gary and Roxanne, are... More

You could not find nicer people to run a small hotel. Cheerful and helpful. There's just not much to work with. Four rooms in one of the strangest, most desolate places in America, Salton City. It was clean, a TV, and a good shower. Gary brought us some icy bottled water, but that's it for amenities. No ice, wifi, or... More

Apart from my GPS thinking that the local streets didn't exist (well, to be fair, about 95% of the don't - look at the satellite view and compare it to the street map!) I had no problems finding this little hideaway once I used my iPhone. It's in a supremely quiet location, and is really close to the shore. The... More

This little motel, comprised of just four rooms, is definitely a bit on the funky side (funky four stars - not Marriot four stars), but in a good way. It's very basic so don't expect much, but offers everything you need, including a great shower with lots of hot water. (You get really dusty out there.) The one thing I... More

I stayed here 2 nights while visiting the area. The place has more the feel of renting someone's in-law apartment than a motel room. It was dated but clean, though the carpet had that very old crunchy feel. The managers were very friendly and helpful, but my room got no maid service - possibly just an oversight, though they only... More

We stumbled in out of a storm, ready to accept pretty much anything, and were delighted by this place. The room was comfortable and immaculate. The building is old but lovingly kept up. Gary the owner is friendly and welcoming, and so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the Salton Sea area that we decided to stay another day (and were happy... More

What a beautiful location to be when the birds arrive. Wonderful host, terrific accommodations, and you just can't get any nearer the Salton Sea without camping! Your host is happy to give advice on your visit to the recreational areas nearby, and the coffee is great!

When visiting the Salton Sea, there isn't much selection when it comes to accommodations. Ray and Carol's is what you'd envision of a family run motel. The owners were super friendly, and very casual. They gave us a quick tour of the property and showed us to our room. The room was actually more of an apartment. It was quite... More

Ray & Carol have passed but their grandson Gary now runs the place. Nothing fancy but the rooms are clean and comfortable. We had the First Mate's Cabin with two double beds and a big bathroom. All rooms have AC and TVs. Take a book! Refrigerator, microwave, and coffee machine are available for guests. The Salton Sea is a fascinating... More
