We were in town for a wedding and booked The Citizen based on the Tripadvisor rankings and positive reviews. When we pulled up to the hotel Saturday evening, my husband made a comment about the neighborhood. I looked around and couldn't shake the feeling that we weren't in a great spot. Lots of what appeared to be abandoned buildings. And... More

This is an old office building which has been renovated to a hotel. I really liked that they stayed sympathetic to that classic style of the 50's and the political theme is very interesting. Had a really nice and spacious room which was very well appointed but oddly had nowhere to store clothes apart from a hanging wardrobe. The bathroom... More

Stayed at The Citizen recently for a business seminar. Wonderful stay! The hotel is very, very nice and the staff is wonderful. Had a comfortable room - ask for a corner room - more spacious with great views! Loved the bath. Our group meeting in the hotel was great. The room was perfect, heat/cool controls were great, food service was... More

I stayed here for two nights and since I didn't have a car it was nice to be close to everything. The restaurant was excellent and the beds were comfortable but you could hear everything in the hallway. Also there was no place to sit and relax unless it was in your room or at the restaurant. I wish they... More

I'm not sure what the great reviews are for....the room was average, the staff nothing special and there is no fitness center. Down the road is the Hyatt with a beautiful pool, outdoor and indoor bars and great rooms. The one plus for this hotel is the restaurant, The Grange which was outstanding. But you don't need to stay to... More

We stayed here for one night as just a stopover driving down to L.A. from Seattle. I was really impressed as soon as I walked through the front door of this place! Everything was decorated nicely and well-kept. The views from this building were spectacular! Stay here if you can if the price is right, this place is so awesome... More

This hotel is located right across from Ceasar Chavez Park. We could see the Capitol from our room. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. The restaurant the "Grange" is also very refreshing for a evening cocktail and dinner. There are multiple restaurants nearby. They need to add a handicap ramp in front of the hotel for people in wheelchairs... More

We live in the Sacramento area but just wanted a night away. We decided on The Citizen because it's a small boutique hotel and they had a romantic evening package called the Red White, and Violet Blue named after an author who finished writing her erotic stories book in the hotel. The hotel was pretty busy the night we stayed... More

We had a flight from Sacramento and chose to look at the town and stayed 2 nights. The hotel is in the middle of town, so we could reach everything by foot. Unfortunetly it was quite noisy because they celebrated a wedding on both evenings. But the rooms are beautiful. We didn't try breakfast because it is quite expensive and... More

Beautifully appointed, classy, clean, lots of amenities (some with extra charges). The staff was impeccable, and the historic building is stunning. Great cocktail bar with an added restaurant (that I did not have time to dine in but have heard very good reports from friends in the area). Great service and welcoming concierge. I will stay here anytime I am... More
