We stayed here at The Citizen Hotel for my college graduation. I've been wanting to stay here as soon as I found out the dates of my graduation. This is the best hotel is the state capital. The room was clean, classically decorated, and very luxurious. The bathroom was huge! My favorite part of the room was being able to... More

This hotel is so beautiful. I love that sacramento kept up this historical hotel. Its so nice to go to a classy hotel thats different from most places in tje area. And the location is great. It was central to everywhere I needed to go. Its a bit pricey, but worth the cost for excellent service and a one of... More

Stayed in the Citizen for business and was pleasantly surprised. It was a busy street we faced but hotel was quiet! Clean, classic rooms, tastefully decorated with a touch of political cartoons to remind you you are blocks from the state capital!

I booked this hotel because of its great rating on TripAdvisor, and was not disappointed. My room was small but comfortable, with a unique decor that was elegant and humourous. The room had framed political cartoons as decoration, and there are very funny quotes about politics in the elevators (different quotes in each one). It was possible to get the... More

I recommend The Citizen. It is very classy. I love the old architecture and the staff was very helpful and friendly. It is walking distance from the convention center. Their interior design is sumptuous. I loved the teal walls, high ceilings, black crown molding, coral love seat and massive brushed metal swirled framed mirror. The bathroom was fabulous- old school... More

Really nice hotel. Great decor-- big striped wallpaper, quirky old black and white political cartoons framed in the room and bathroom, and lots of little political touches everywhere. The only reason it gets 4 stars instead of 5 is that it is kind of loud. But they did put earplugs in the bathroom so that was a nice touch. Really... More

I wasn't sure about which hotel to stay out in Sacramento. All of the other hotels seemed a bit high in price for the brand, so I decided to try The Citizen. The hotel itself had a very cool vibe. The people were really friendly and not pushy. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are huge. We were on... More

Restaurant was delicious and expensive. For the money, there are better places within walking distance. But the bartender was real knowledgeable and fun too. Location is great and the history makes the place unique and fun. A lot like the Pfister in Milwaukee if you've ever been. Worth the trip. Not cheap though

Ended my 7 day trip from San Diego to Sacramento at the Citizen Hotel. This hotel ranked right up there with Torrey Pines in La Jolla (except the room was nicer at the Citizen). I was particularly pleased since I paid $100 less at the Citizen per night (paid $179 plus tax) than I did at a tired 1950's hotel... More

I stayed a night at the Citizen recently on yet another business trip to Sacramento. Thank God I found it! (My prior overnight was not my favorite.) The pictures posted do not do it justice. I found the hotel to be much nicer in person and will definitely stay here in the future. I had booked a king room but... More
