This is a nice older hotel in downtown Sacramento. We had a room on the 13th floor. The window was very tiny and we had to stand on our tiptoes to see out. It was quiet though and we like that. The lobby is very dark with lots of wood and books all around. I parked the car myself and... More

This was an unexpectedly pleasant and enjoyable hotel experience.Everything was special from the courteous valets who parked my car and opened the front door for me every time I entered or left, to the beautifully decorated lobby with friendly staff, all the way to the unique room with comfortable bed, huge bathroom and extensive toiletry supply. I would return to... More

This is a beautiful, historical building, finished in a charming & unique-for-locale design. Many comments indicate smaller rooms & ours was "cozy" as well, but it was also so tastefully decorated and managed quite well over all. We enjoyed the in house bar with welcoming staff after long days of travel & sight seeing. Our beautiful server "forgot" one busy... More

If the folks that own this property had a choice i am sure they would move it four blocks to the redeveloped area. Hopefully the area around them attracts someone to spruce it up. Great location close to the Capitol which also attracts homeless. I didn't feel unsafe walking around on a Monday night as there were many people walking... More

Great hotel closed to the Capitol. Lack of parking let it down a bit but since we arrived in the evening we were able to park right at the front on the street for free. Be avare though that nowhere in USA in the city centre is safe to park on the street overnight, you have to take everything out... More

Nice looking hotel interiors but the room on the 13th Floor we had was quiet small not much room for 2 large suitcases, but the bathroom was quite big but not much shelf room for toiletries. Shower was complicated and just OK. In room WiFi OK but $9.95. Desk under TV so probably not a watch and work station. Location... More

This property is located very close to the state capitol but it is on a darkened street. Lots of homeless people and all of the businesses on one side of the hotel are boarded up and without lights. I parked my car with the hotel valet which I found out is an independent operator. When I received my car in... More

Gorgeous hotel in the heart of Sacramento. I was moving to Seattle with my two canine companions and needed a place to hang my hat for the night. Found The Citizen Hotel on trip advisor and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. They were welcoming to me and my dogs. I would definitely stay again; with or without my dogs!

Booked a suite. Right day, right price for corner rm 1000. Just a bit off. Eclectic is good but this was a bit too off. Bedroom ok, bath SUPURB the rest was EH. Furniture really miss matched. Again I like eclectic BUT this is not it. Carpet clean but 90's. Bathroom right up there. Wallpaper FLAT slick stripes. Bed also... More
