We stayed this past Thanksgiving weekend at the Citizens Hotel in Sacramento. It was very nice. Quality for price, no question about it. I also really liked that they had a triple A discount. I definitely would stay there again and the location of the hotel is central to a lot of nearby restaurants and coffee shops. The only disappointment... More

Besides getting a check mate on the chess board in the lobby in 7 moves playing my GF ,....the hotel was ok for a quick overnight then out the next day . I did not eat or drink there . The best were more firm than I care for but everyone was very nice and would maybe consider returning

I chose carefully when looking at hotels to stay at in Sacramento. It was my first trip here and it was a one night getaway for our stay in town while going to a concert nearby at Sleep Train Arena. Upon checking in, the hotel was busy. Valet parking is $25 per night and seemed to be best option. For... More

I went on a business trip to attend and assist people from the SEIU Convention with their transportation to and from hotels and then to the Convention. So as you can see if this is a four day ordeal finding a hotel that was relaxing, beautiful not to mention excellence in service!! I think I found a hotel that i... More

We did not have problems with noise, as many other reviewers have mentioned. Maybe because we were on a higher floor we didn't detect it. I loved all the attention to details in the way this old building has been updated and the legal/old-school political theme is carried out through the lobby and the rooms. The service was professional and... More

The Citizen is an historic property (i.e., it's old) that has been tastefully redone. The rooms and bathrooms are small but well appointed. Linens, pillows and towels are very good quality. Beds are comfortable. One of our rooms had a 12" x 12" floor to ceiling column in the the middle of the room. Kid of weird. As several reviewers... More

The hotel was nice, rooms clean. The bathroom quite large, almost as large as the sleeping area. We asked for a "Quiet" room..and it was quiet, or so we thought. We had a room facing the street and once the tv and bathroom fan were turned off we could clearly hear the beeping countdown of the street signal, the noise... More

This hotel is perfect if you suffer from hearing loss. The hotel is very attractive and the rooms are clean and comfortable. The location is in central downtown. If you have normal hearing and intend on actually trying to sleep, DO NOT STAY HERE. My wife and I booked this hotel despite reading the many reviews which mentioned the noise,... More

The Citizen Hotel is one of those iconic buildings that has been transformed into an incredibly charming hotel. The design manages to respect the vintage feel of days gone by while making sure guests have every modern amenity. This is no easy feat. I have stayed at many places that get it wrong and these folks got it right. I... More

This is without doubt my favorite place to stay in Sacramento. The hotel is unusual, and is fresh, clean and interesting, staff is exceptionally friendly and helpful, and their Grange restaurant is worth a separate review (which I will write next). The location is exceptional for anyone wanting to be close to the Capitol or government buildings like Cal EPA.... More
