I stayed here with a group (mostly over-50s), very comfortable. The building is an 1880s mansion with original woodwork, painted ceiling in the staircase atrium, nice carpets in the downstairs living areas, an elegant feel. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped. The complimentary breakfast was better than some hostels, toast and bagels (with cream cheese), oatmeal packets, and all sorts... More

I am a 30 something year old that use to stay at Hostels as a backpacker while I traveled around the world. I had not stayed in a Hostel in years and figured that I would give it a try for my trip to Sacramento. It exceeded my expectations! What a great historic building and a friendly staff. It was... Our BSA Troop stays at the Sacramento Hostel about once a year. The location is fabulous - walking distance to most anything you want to do in downtown Sacramento, and the Amtrak station (which we arrive / depart from). The staff is courteous and the accommodations include many different sized rooms so that our Scouts can be in one or... More

I have nothing but good things to say about the Sacramento Youth Hostel as a great place to hold our recent health care seminar. We had a group of 30 people and the dining room was just the perfect fit for our group. Our group was open to having the hostel guests join us for our seminar if they had... More

I have traveled widely and in years past, enjoyed staying in hostels. Meeting new people, making new connections, and at a fraction of the prices of big city accommodations. Sadly, just as the entire service sector has degraded and customer service has become a thing of past, so, too, has hosteling. In the wake of 9/11, many hostels in the... More

Nestled in the middle of the beaurocratic buildings of Sacramento is this gorgeous old mansion from the days when the going west meant rushing for gold. Standing in front of this old mansion was a little haunting due to its grey exterior, but the stay I had was really fantastic. it may sound like it would be a noisy area... More

Stayed at the Hostel from August 16th to August 18th while on vacation. This was my first time staying at a Hostel and enjoyed this one very much. It's an old mansion with the old fancy woodwork so, if you are into old victorians this is a must stay. Just don't expect the fancy perks you get at a Bed... More

This hostel was amazing. We stayed here one night while touring northern Cali. We are a family of 4 and had a private room with 2 doubles. It was very nicely decorated and clean. The kitchen was also clean and well equipped. This was one of 5 hostels we stayed at while visiting California. This hostel made me think about... More

I went there with a grade 5 school group to explore Sacramento. Staff was very helpful and friendly. The facility is more or less clean, the kitchen is well equipped, they just need a knife sharpener. The girls' dorm room in the basement was a little smelly but OK. Breakfast could need little improvement (more items, milk, juice). The location... More

I got stuck off of an amtrack train with nowhere to stay, a miscommunication with friends, and between the late hour and my being barely 18, most hotels would not accept me. This hostel was absolutely perfect, the staff was incredibly helpful and sweet. Very clean, simple, the guests all seemed to help each other out. The environment was great.... More
