The owner,Dave, was very friendly and helpful in telling us things to be sure and see and how to get to a restaurant we were looking for. The hotel is older but it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. We paid about $80 for a room with a king size bed which I felt was reasonable considering the... More

We are seasoned road trippers used to spare accommodations but this place was truly awful. Should have listened to Bethany 2601- the only other accurate review on here! Front desk clerk acted like we were an inconvenience. We stayed in room 5. Carpet had more stains than I could count. I didn't walk around without flip flops for a second.... More

Thought the price was a bit steep for our budget, we had a nice stay, the owner upgraded us to 2 beds, and the room was comfortable. We got good local tips on places to see and the room was clean. When you check out, take the back road to Ferndale, it's a lovely drive and ends up in a... More

We stayed for one night (4th of July) the manager (or owner, not sure) was nice...he gave us maps, told us aboutthe fireworks at the fairgrounds nearby and was generally pleasent. Check in was easy and sstraightforward. The rooms are dated but clean. Thbeds weren't terrible and the sheets were soft...all of that combined you can't really beat it for... More

What a terrific, family-owned motel. My room was perfectly clean, safe, and quiet. The location is beautiful--near the redwoods and Eel River. Dave, the owner, strives to make each stay memorable by answering all of your questions and telling stories of local history.

This is a quiet budget gem. Biker-friendly. We arrived late and drenched to a friendly welcome, great bed avd clean room. Plus, without even having to ask, the clerk brought out a stack of bike rags. The location is just far enough from the highway to be very quiet. The price was a real value.

Spent two nights here in early September 2013 and was greeted by a very kind and knowledgeable staff who gave great recommendations for DJ's burgers down the road. The room was exceptionally clean; mini-fridge, microwave, and open WiFi, super comfy King bed. Very quiet here, too. About 10 minutes to Ave of the Giants.

This was nice place to stay. A little outdated, but clean. We reviewed this hotel online and did expect more. We were running late and Dave was very understanding. We wanted to stay near Rio Dell and this was a great location. Also, when we travel we try to stay at a locally owned place to help out the locals.

Re-read these reviews and I truly don't understand how so many people said how clean this place was. It was a throw back to the 70's gold carpet and burgundy sheets, cracked lino in the bath tiny closed in tiled shower, and not a nice smell. If I wasn't exhausted from our day and we had any other option, I... More

Stayed here just for two nights during our 22 day road trip around California and Nevada. Being from the UK, I had in my mind what a 'typical' roadside small family run motel would be like - and this did not disappoint. Dave, the owner, is a nice guy and very helpful. Although we have the same surname we are... More
