With its cool retro-esque motel sign, you'd think this place would be decorated in accord with that style, but not really. It is a basic motel with some interior retro-esque finishes. It was alright overall and a decent deal on price. It was close to the Sundial Bridge and "downtown". I did hear the train go by twice in the... More

On a recent car trip to the Pacific Northwest we stayed at the recently remodeled Thunderbird Lodge in Redding. This region of the country can get very hot and uncomfortable in the summer months, so we were grateful for efficiently operating air conditioning. The hotel is conveniently located near the center of this small California city which made it relatively... More

If you're looking for a place to stay for a low price, you get what you pay for. AC unit was very loud, coming from someone who can sleep through a great deal of noise. However, it was either that or sleep in a hot room. Found the bed really hard with uncomfortable pillows. Other than that, the room was... More

This is not a fancy, swanky or especially great hotel. The wifi was the annoying kind where you had to enter via the hotel's portal, the walls and floors were thin so you heard the creaks and moans of your neighbors, and the TV wasn't HD. For far less than you would pay at a nicer chain, you get free... More

Spent a night here July 30th. Check in was easy enough. Very hot on this day and was glad they had AC. One suggestion however. Redding can be blistering hot in the summer and the AC units are a little undersized for this type of heat. We checked in at about 6:30 pm and the temps were about 100. Had... More

Owners have updated rooms throughout. We noted renovations made since our last stay two years ago. Rooms are clean as is pool. Staff very helpful. Good Mexican food in walking distance. Breakfast selections much larger than anticipated for motels of this type with service in two newly renovated rooms, making an attractive dining area. We will continue to stay at... More

We stayed at the Thunderbird last night and four nights ago we stayed at the Hilton in Santa Rosa. Okay from outward appearance, the Thunderbird can't compare, but on every other level it meets or exceeds it. The rooms are recently remodeled, very nicely done. Very comfortable bed and our room had a microwave and a refrigerator (Hilton didn't have... More

Nothing special about it, just a great clean big room, excellent service, good breakfast, fun old but clean pool (not a lot of chlorine), and excellent value. Would definitely recommend it for other families/couples.

Based on our experience two years ago, we again reserved a room at this property, finding that additional improvements had been made. This year we obtained a room with one queen bed (our preference) and it was spacious. Shower stall and bathroom have been re-tiled. Swim pool water sparkled. We enjoy eating at a casual Mexican restaurant less than a... More

What looks like a run of the mill budget motel on the outside, truly is a gem on the inside! The rooms are well updated and very clean and the staff is very friendly. Smaller rooms, but with every amenity you might need. Amazing value for the cost!
