Stayed only briefly, although we will be back several times over the next few months. Originally found the property via AMEX fine hotels and resorts and then researched in further on Trip Advisor. Very glad I did! Our room was quite spectacular and comfortable, probably 1400 sf with a very large, private patio. Very nicely appointed, fantastic bedding, comfortable furnishings... more

For an anniversary get away, my husband surprised me with a weekend stay at Rancho Valencia. From the minute we arrived, the service was impeccable. From the smiling and warm doorman (who was also our bellman) to the person who cheked us in on the front desk-they made us feel very welcome. They all used our names and wished us... more

We went here for a quick getaway for a couple nights. The grounds are very beautiful and the citrus trees and jasmine filled the air with flowery scents. Our one bedroom suite was large and comfortable. Our two teenage boys played tennis each day with a nice and knowledgeable pro. The pool area, restaurant, and other public areas were well... more

My wife and I stayed here recently because we received a gift certificate for the Essential Spa package. The grounds are very nice, and the room was spacious. But the place has deferred maintenance problems, for sure. More importantly, we thought the quality of the food was really poor (and not worth the cost). We had a lunch and a... more

My initial contact with the resort started off on the wrong foot, but they made up for it later. I am a travel agent and called the resort for an industry rate. I was quoted a rate and, although this trip is an ongoing event for our group, some of the ladies who were not going to attend decided to... more

This was our third visit to RV and it is one of our favorite places to really get away. If you're expecting a high activity resort with a lot of people, RV isn't for you. The rooms and grounds are beautiful. The rooms are in casitas with even the basic room having a ton of space, a huge bathroom and... more

We stayed for 2 nights in a grove suite. This is a small hotel, without a lot of facilities- or employees. The grounds and landscaping are beautiful and well maintained. We enjoyed the tennis program, but be aware this is a small hotel, the teaching is nowhere close to a top tennis resort like Kiawah or Ponte Vedre. The restaurant... more

My husband and I were a bit perplexed when we arrived because there was no valet nor bell staff and we weren't sure where the front desk even was. I am glad to say that once we found out where to go, the stay improved. (They really need a better welcome to the resort though). The front desk was courteous... more

I just returned from this beautiful place. My two children (teenagers) and I spent a week at Rancho Valencia. Our garden suite, the smaller suite option, but by no means small, was beautiful--two queen beds on the upper level divided by a low wall from the living area. Our terrace surrounded by pink and coral flowers draped over a wall... more

Found the resort through some great reviews online. We were looking for a not-to-far-away getaway that would feel like we were a million miles away. We found it in Rancho Valencia. Great overall stay. A spacious, nicely furnished, comfortable room; a relaxing restaurant and bar; rarely running into other guests; a nice spa; proximity to Del Mar and La Jolla... more
