Sleepy Pines was not our first choice, but we weren't disappointed. Our room had a king and a kitchen. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with equipment (coffee maker w/coffee & teas, microwave, etc.). All rooms face the highway, but we were not bothered by traffic sounds. The room had plenty of comfortable seating. The dinette table... More

Rating it 4 stars may be a bit of a stretch, but it was better than 3. The Sleepy Pines Motel is on 70 in Portola. I take long solo motorcycle trips, so I am not looking for amenities other travelers might, esp those traveling with a spouse or special needs or children. I want clean, comfortable, wifi, hot water,... More

Located in the heart of the valley. very clean, rates reasonable, and accommodating. Saved me money due to kitchens in room. Sure beats the cookie cutter motel. This was more like home.

I used to stay here in the early 1990s when it was rustic and cozy - and clean. I always stayed in the "knotty pine" rooms in the section closest to the office. Sadly, the motel has deteriorated significantly over the last decade or so. Carpeting is stained; the blankets on my bed were torn and frayed; the mattress cover... More

With more than a decade in the hospitality industry, I believe I know customer service. My husband and I are avid snowmobilers and were looking forward to another weekend in the snow when we made the 4 hour drive to Portola and the Sleepy Pines Motel. We had a gift certificate to redeem - a gift certificate that we had... More

This old fashioned motel on the edge of Portola is a real find. The rooms were nicely decorated, and had refrigerators, coffee pots, and microwaves. The bed was very comfortable with fun sheets and bedspread. Clean bathroom. I arrived mid-day without a reservation, and they let me check in right away. It was a very peaceful place to stay.

Its amazing how when you least expect it, good things come. Over the 4th of July holiday we found ourselves staying at The Sleepy Pines Motel. From our intial glance, just seemed to be regular run of the mill motel. That's until we actually slowed down and took notice. Our walk up the deck to the office, with seasonal blooms... More
