We visited three years ago and stayed at the Keeper's House but the lighthouse itself was undergoing renovations at the time and we didn't get to see it in it's true grandeur. Recently, we were in the Bay area and decided to make the one day trip north to visit the place one more time and it was absolutely worth... More

Stayed 2 nights in the Keepers Room. No kitchen but tiny refrigerator and microwave...with excellent wi-fi....First night we were only ones there on a very stormy night... Staff and lighthouse folks are very professional. Hiking around the area a plus...be sure and climb the 144 steps to the top of the lighthouse....!! Day ride to Mendocino a must..yeah!

Next to the newly designated Point Arena-Stornetta Public Lands and Manchester State Park. Great way to spend a day hiking the trails of the public lands and visiting the historic lighthouse. It is an amazing area to explore.

This is my ABSOLUTE favorite place to visit while in CA! The views are breath taking and the price is right. There is plenty to do or you can just chill out and relax on their Tempur Pedic beds, Oh yeah, real comfort. They have 4-3 bedroom, 2 bath houses that can be rented. Very clean with all the kitchen... More

This is the highest lighthouse on the west coast. There is a nice museum and gift shop located on the property. You can take a tour of this lighthouse and climb to the top. Warning...there are a lot of stairs but the view is breath-taking and the tour guide was very informative. The surrounding area is beautiful as well and... More

This is both the tallest Pacific coast lighthouse and the one closest to Hawaii (no, you can’t see the islands from the top!) in the continental USA, so it’s well worth a visit. The site is pretty spectacular too, jutting out into the ocean with the San Andreas fault on one side and the raging Pacific on the other. A... More

Thanks for visiting us and for posting such a positive review! Good advice on hiking the Point Arena/Stornetta Public Lands and Manchester State Beach, both are wonderful and offer a variety of experiences and trails. Just a small clarification, visitors to the Lighthouse are welcome to use our restrooms, which are fully plumbed and part of our septic system. if... More

The lighthouse is accessible to tourists to climb to the top with a guide. The location is the extreme west point of the US, and the all shipping along the coast used it as an aid to navigation. The museum is very interesting also, displaying the importance of the area historically. The magnificent lens is on display also.

Great 3-bedroom house for the money. When the weather was not foggy, the views were spectacular. There are not many lighthouses that have lodging and this is as good as it gets. We would stay there again and met another couple who stay there every year.

From the beginning when the wrecks started happening on the reef - through to the 1907 earthquake, and the building of the new lighthouse, this is one of the more spectacular lighthouses you can visit! The climb to the top is amazing, and the stairwell is the original from the pre-earthquake lighthouse. Views everywhere, and the weather changes moment by... More

Thanks for the great review and so glad you enjoyed both the tower and the museum - that Fresnel lens always takes my breath away when I walk into the gift store. Please come visit us again and stay in one of our vacation cottages so you don't have to leave after the tour! More

I absolutely LOVE this place. It is so relaxing and beautiful. Going again in November. The beds are super comfortable and it is a house with room for 6-8 people. Cant wait for the trip to come again. If you plan on staying and are not a fan of miss matched pots and pans take your own. It's a great... More
