Matt and crew were just wonderful. Rustic accommodations but comfortable too. Matt went out of his way to to make our trip great. We packed with our Horses and mules. We had 2 wonderful guides who also cooked for us. I broke my ankle (had nothing to do with anyone, I tripped over a rock) . The guys took such... More

Went up for the day with our family. The weather was perfect, everyone was so friendly. It was so nice to see the river. We went for a trail ride on horseback and had a wonderful time. My daughter caught rainbow trout. Can't wait to go back and camp.

My husband took me here for our anniversary for a full day horseback ride through the mountains. This place is gorgeous. The horses they use are Percherons (type of draft horse). The horses are large and will need a step stool to get on (17 hands). The horses are trained for climbing mountains, walking up steep rock and going across... More

For quite a few years we have been stopping at Kennedy Meadows RPS on our way to high Sierras and Eastern Sierras on Hwy 108 . The first time camping nearby, we decided to visit and had supper at the Lodge--very homey, and the food was country delicious, I remember a fruit cobbler or fruit pie that was really good.... More

Nice place to stop for lunch before going over the pass! Simple well prepared food. Also useful general store. But the really notable venue here is the old western bar. Real cowboys. Great jukebox. Dancing allowed. If you are into pack animal hiking expeditions, inquire here.

I did not stay in the resort but ate in the restaurant. I had a wonderful Reuben sandwich. Service was friendly and casual. I would eat here again. This is a great place to stop for lunch on the way up to Sonora Pass. Friendly dogs and a great camping store, plus interest cowboys wrangling the pack horses make this... More

I've been spending summers at Kennedy for forty years. Yes, it can get VERY crowded now days. Yes, the cabins are VERY basic. No, the restaurant is not gourmet. This is the middle of the forest. It is a stop over stop for hikers and people on horseback. It is authentically a cowboy culture. I'm very HAPPY this hasn't changed... More

We have been going to Kennedy Meadows for over 25 years. Could not think of a better place for a vacation with family and friends. Horseback riding, hiking, fishing, evening camp fires -- no television - no cell phone service -- a place to sit back, relax and enjoy a slower pace of life. Small to large cabins accomodate every... Kennedy Meadows is a disaster. Thousands of people traipse through there every year, destroying any semblance of peace and quiet. Is it the horses or the decades of mouse droppings that make the cabins and restaurant smell so disgusting? The cabin stay may cost you a fortune, but you get hanta virus and e coli for free! I feel safer... More
